We went during a display of military vehicles and equipment outdoors and then were pleasantly surprised by the museum itself. The old armory is a beautifully restored structure and the displays were nicely done. The volunteers there were very friendly and informative. Definitely worth an hour or two visit.

It is evident upon entry that the museum has taken great care to provide accurate descriptions and interpretation to their collections. They have given special attention to WWI throught the building to highlight the anniversary of the U. S. entry into the war. I was very pleased with my experience.

We were on our trip to Alaska and saw an advertisement for this museum. It covered the history of the Illinois State National Guard and is on the level of the Smithsonian.

This a nicely done small military museum. It is housed in a stone armory and has helicopters and other military vehicles in the front. Camp Lincoln, the National Guard post, is adjacent. The hours are limited but worth the time if they're open! And, it's FREE!!!

For anyone with a military history in the family or working on a history project, this is an excellent walk through time. You may learn some interesting trivia as well.
