For us, this is a no-to-be-missed attraction. It consists of a moon-like landscape of extinct crater domes, including one volcano the rim of which you can walk round on beautifully maintained wooden walkways. It is fascinating to examine the plants struggling for existence on this barren lava field, and the views from the volcano rim are excellent.

One of the best-maintained volcano hiking spots we visited. Good views into the craters and over the surrounding lava fields. Fairly easy hike, with convenient parking and nice information board. A nice place for a quick stop to stretch your legs and get a good view. Is good for kids (not too difficult), but keep an eye on little ones - there are no railings.

This is a nice stop for a quick walk. Nice trails, beautiful view. While we were stopped here, it was rather windy with mixed ice and snow - still worth the visit. The starkness of the weather was quite a contrast to the various greens of the moss. Iceland has many beautiful landscapes, this was both unique and magical. It is a nice spot to stop the bus, get out and stretch and enjoy the Icelandic countryside.

Stopped here on our drive along the Ring Road while in Iceland. Good walking path with a portion being on a footpath and a good portion climbing steps. The step climb is light-moderate strenuous if you are in somewhat good shape. The views at the top and as you walk around the rim of the crater preview a great view of the surrounding countryside.

Hate to pass up a chance to climb and have a view of the area. This is an easy climb with steps available and seats half way up. You can see the little crater as well once you are up there, but you can't climb that one. The lava fields are cool with lots of moss growth.
