This is a nice stop for a quick walk. Nice trails, beautiful view. While we were stopped here, it was rather windy with mixed ice and snow - still worth the visit. The starkness of the weather was quite a contrast to the various greens of the moss. Iceland has many beautiful landscapes, this was both unique and magical. It is a nice spot to stop the bus, get out and stretch and enjoy the Icelandic countryside.

Stopped here on our drive along the Ring Road while in Iceland. Good walking path with a portion being on a footpath and a good portion climbing steps. The step climb is light-moderate strenuous if you are in somewhat good shape. The views at the top and as you walk around the rim of the crater preview a great view of the surrounding countryside.

Hate to pass up a chance to climb and have a view of the area. This is an easy climb with steps available and seats half way up. You can see the little crater as well once you are up there, but you can't climb that one. The lava fields are cool with lots of moss growth.

We had a brief stop at Grábrókarhraun, a rough lava field covered with moss and birch growth. We were able to climb up the numerous staircases to view Grábrók Crater. It doesn't take long, but I'd recommend a stop to check out the view.

Interesting set of craters/volcanoes right next to the ring road. It has wooden steps going up one of the craters, and I can see why some people don’t like them but it does make it accessible. The main crater is well worth a look and quick to walk around. There is also a nice walk around the back of the crater where it is peaceful and you can see some interesting rocks on the side of a mountain. The views at the top are great all the way round. Definitely recommend this place as it is on the ring road and quick and easy. Free parking at the bottom. It was very windy and cold up the top, I can imagine in the rain this would not be much fun and the wooden steps might be slippery.
