Interesting set of craters/volcanoes right next to the ring road. It has wooden steps going up one of the craters, and I can see why some people don’t like them but it does make it accessible. The main crater is well worth a look and quick to walk around. There is also a nice walk around the back of the crater where it is peaceful and you can see some interesting rocks on the side of a mountain. The views at the top are great all the way round. Definitely recommend this place as it is on the ring road and quick and easy. Free parking at the bottom. It was very windy and cold up the top, I can imagine in the rain this would not be much fun and the wooden steps might be slippery.

What a great way to begin your Ring Road Adventure. Although it's only a tiny taste of what's to come, it's a worthwhile stop on your way north on the west side of Iceland. It has stairs all the way up and an easy walking path around, so it's suitable for most. Super! Take a look!

We found the visit to the Grabrok crater slightly disappointing, because the fun of walking up to the edge is basically taken away by the wooden path/stairs up to the edge. Still there are some nice views to be had on the top.

Visited on our 1st day in Iceland and it continued to be a favourite stop even after 12 days of seeing sights. The climb to the top is all stairs - someone said 500! Just take your time - it is worth it. The view from the top is impressive.

The Grabrok is an impressive volcano. The climb is not too bad and you can take your time. Even though it is just a 20 minute climb halfway there is a bench for the tired. The walk around the view gives you a great view. Two extras become clear. First the Litla-Grabrok (the view is from the Sora-grabrok), towards the South West. I do not believe you can climb it. Secondly the stone sheep sorting area towards the north west which you actually pass without seeing climbing up. Well worth the exercise. No facilities in the parking space.
