I had read the good reviews on Trip Advisor and thought we were making a good choice, but the moment we arrived, I thought, “Uh no...”. First, before you even walk outside to where the luau is, they had you wait in line inside to take a cheesy picture in front of a bland, blue backdrop. I get they are trying to make money off of more than the tickets, but if you are going to do photographs like these, they should be done outside, behind a Hawaiian background with perhaps a luau dancer or two. Just make it a little more interesting than a plain blue backdrop.
They tried some pre-dinner activities (like hula lessons) that were done away from where you sat down for dinner and the show. It was awkward and inconvenient to have to get up again (after already getting up to get a drink) just to go to the area where these activities were. Instead, they should have done them on stage where everyone could see them.
The food was not great at all. It looked like some foods were bought pre-made or canned. And the desserts were really blah.
And the DJ (or the guy leading us through the show) was just so cheesy. It all just felt so dumbed-down, like I was watching a lame cruise show.
The only thing this luau really had going for it was the dancers. They were pretty good.
But again, I don’t understand the positive reviews. If wanting a luau, look elsewhere.
