I think you actually get what you pay for with this unit.

You enter the front door and there is a 10’ long hall ahead. On the right the wall runs all the way to the back. To the left is the bedroom, after that is the bathroom, then the room opens up into the small but reasonable size kitchen with an open counter next, then a four person dining table and living area. The back wall is a view directly over the ocean.

Down sides – This is a first floor unit so you get upstairs neighbors. “One man’s ceiling is another man’s floor”. Throughout our stay we had upstairs neighbors and there was a lot of stomping around.

There is no air conditioning and the weather was 84 and extremely humid. We arrived from a cold Oregon and found the heat oppressive. Also, there was an odor in the bedroom and bath. It seemed to get better throughout our stay, although it drove my wife, with a nose like a bloodhound, crazy. For what it’s worth, after this stay we went to Maui and stayed in a upscale resort. The same smell was in the bathroom there. I’m wondering if it’s the water or if possibly the current volcanic activity is somehow causing this.

Also a down side was the email the owner sent a couple days before our trip. It detailed all the things you can be fined for and I found it offensive. Some renters are good and some are bad, and I question whether calling everyone out to try to convince the few not to be stupid is a good idea. And telling me if I break something not to replace it with something cheap when absolutely all furnishings are cheap is a joke.

Up sides – There is a lot good with this place. The price is pretty good; all in with rental, cleaning, tax, and VRBO fee it came to $275 per night. That is substantially greater than the VRBO advertised $129 per night, more than double, but it’s still a good price for a view like this and the large space.

And that view, wow. The back wall of the unit is all window. The lanai is small but reasonable for two, and even with a small child or two would be reasonable. Past that is a small space filled with rocks and then a short seawall. People would walk past the unit from time to time along the wall. Beyond the wall you see part of the harbor to the right, and part of the island around the harbor direct ahead, and the ocean to the left. It is a really nice view.

The location is one mile south of the town, and we like to walk a mile. Except one small narrow space, the road to town has nice wide shoulders for walking. We didn’t have to drive into Kailua-Kona unless we wanted this. Parking was ample in the condo lot, and the positive side of having people stomping in the floor above is we could drag our bags into a ground floor entry.

Bottom line is we found Sea Village 4103 a reasonable rental.

50 of the 130 units are time-share with remainder units owner rental or owner occupied. We used the Timeshare piece and found the rooms presentable and generally clean but the previous occupant must have had small children based upon prints on slider. One queen and two twins with one AC unit in the queen room.Otherwise, fans did the job. Property was fine with nice BBQ areas and pool.

This place is old and dirty.

Rules at the pool are ridiculous. No music, no food, no talking on your cell.phone..

The room has one portable air conditioner in the bedroom and the rest of the condo is hot! It’s only May!

The room was nice and clean. And the staff is friendly.

Sea Village is not for “high maintenance” travelers, but it is perfect for those who appreciate all the amenities in a laid back atmosphere.

Our checkin was prompt, our room was clean, and we had plenty of towels. And the ocean view was great even though we were in the building closest to the street. We could borrow or rent various beach supplies.

Just don’t expect to get clean beach towels every time you go to the pool. You simply clean them yourself in the in-room washer and dryer. Likewise you clean your own set of provided bar-b-cue tools. And there is no mid-week cleaning.

Frankly, I loved Sea Village along with it’s helpful staff and unpretentious vacationers. I hope to return for a month next time.

This is a large, quiet, well established complex. Our comfortable one bedroom condo had a lanai (balcony) overlooking the bay. Grounds and units are well maintained, and there is ample parking. Need a car to get to the center of Kaileah-Kona. We made our reservation through VRBO.
