Salcedo Galvez opened this modest restaurant with husband Adrian and Francisco Macias in 2017 serving a focused menu of traditional “street” tacos, a couple burrito renditions and a quesadilla or two. There is also a plate of nachos fortified with “evil” and three other hot sauces that render them nearly impossible to consume. Salcedo says they’re free if you finish the whole plate. She indicated some servicemen from the nearby U.S Marine Air Ground Combat Base, known for toughness and ability to endure to a degree I can only imagine, brought to tears by this concoction!
So on to the tacos, subtle soft tortillas made you glad they were doubled up. Carne asada, pastor pork, lingua, all superb. Had to order more shrimp and a fish taco. Chefs have culinary training and brought an amuse bouche of a simple fish and cheese quesadilla adorned with minced pickled onion and crisp fish.
Enjoy these before you head off to Joshua Tree!
