I recommend at least a three day visit. You pay for a 7 day pass, so why not make the most of it. There is plenty to explore in the 71,000 acres. Be sure to go to the Visitor Center early on. Watch the 20 minute movie narrated by Kevin Costner. It is world class; shows every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. Ask the volunteers there where to go in the park to see bison, prairie dogs, and the begging burros. They also know the best hiking trails matched to your ability. Some are easy and paved; others are more difficult and rugged. Visit the 4 resorts. Formal fine dining or casual fare is offered. If you like walleye, Blue Bell Lodge's is the best. The Game Lodge specializes in a variety of wild game. Souveniers are sold at all the Lodge's, but Coolidge Store has extensive choices including groceries. Parents with children should also spend some time at the Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center. Lots of fun activities for learning.
If you're planning a trip here I recommend taking the time to go on-line to see what is available, note your interests, and give yourself enough time to enjoy the experience. Hope this helps.
