Cemetaries in New Orleans are unique and interesting. Go with a tour and learn about them or you may learn not to be there alone and that is unfortunate. Besides tours are very informative.

We took the green trolley, which drops you a few blocks away. Our first experience with completely above ground cemetery. Definitely worth our time.

we took the time for a long stray through the cemetery to read the names . I am a German national and did not know that there were so many Germans living in New Orleans ...

You have to go ! it's one of the most unique Cemetery in the country never seen one like it prior to this! Very cool history, amazing lineage, worth the education definitely worth the time. Day time is better you can read the tomb stones, you can't at night.

Take a guided tour to learn about the traditions and types of mausoleums here. If you don't have time to plan ahead you can download walking tours on your phone. But get the info or you will miss out on what makes this place so special. Note it's only open to the public until 3 pm.
