Owner description: The National WWII Museum is the top-rated tourist destination in New Orleans, TripAdvisor's #2 museum in the world and #2 in the U.S., and an unforgettable way to experience World War II—from industrial efforts on the home front to the combat experience of the American servicemember abroad. Offering a compelling blend of sweeping narrative and poignant personal detail, the Museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories to take visitors inside the story of the war: why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today. Beyond the galleries, the Museum offers unique access to experiential history, including an opportunity to tour and ride on an authentically restored PT-boat, tours behind the scenes to handle artifacts alongside Museum curators, and an impressive collection of restored and working macro-artifacts to discover. Open early through 1/2/18, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. nationalww2museum.org

My husband and I just toured this museum. It really is a 2-day tour, mostly because you need a mental break after so much heavy history. It is very immersive and interactive. I'm not as into history as he is but still enjoyed learning. The sheer amount of memorabilia was mind boggling. You truly get a personal viewpoint of the way from all sides.

I just visited today with my husband. There was so much to see and learn. Lots of interesting and engaging exhibits, movies and testimonials. Easy to follow chronological events of World War II. I recommend getting in the train car at the beginning of your visit. We even saw a World War II veteran at a table talking to patrons and displaying his medals. A must visit as part of your New Orleans experience!

Please set aside one entire day to this area. I also ask that you pay attention and go to every exhibit, but ask pay attention to your assigned person... yes you are assigned a person. I think that part of the experience just makes it THAT much amazing. The exhibits are just breath taking and you can’t rush though it. I would urge kids and even teenagers to pay attention because they will learn something. Totally and undoubtedly worth the day spent here! Don’t forget to stop at the soda shop for a shake!

My husband and I visited the museum during our vacation and it was one of the best experiences of our trip! We spent the entire day here and so enjoyed it! We were also able to visit with a few veterans which was so special. It's one of those places everyone should visit. They do have a little diner if you need a drink or snack.
