IT has been 22 years since we were in New Orleans and this areas has grown ..that is the beautiful flowering trees and well manicured gardens have filled in considerable since our last stroll in this area. Relaxing ,clean and nice to just walk and reflect.

This place has so many street performers, artists, shops, and historical buildings and walkways that even locals visit again and again. If you're in the area, you MUST GO.

This area is a really nice place to learn about the city. There are horse carriages waiting for people to take on 30 minute tours around the square and talk about interesting things. There are also a few small museums that are great little AC stops, as well as plenty of shops around.

A beautiful green space located near the Mississippi River. The formally known Spanish name Plaza d Armas before the Louisiana Purchase, Jackson Square is a very beautiful area. Located directly across from the St. Louis Cathedral (Now a Basilica as designated by Pope John Paul II). This is a well landscaped green space with benches, and broad walking paths. Centrally located is a bronze statute of then Major General Andrew Jackson aboard his horse when he was in command during the Battle of New Orleans. There are usually local artisans there selling their paintings or painting/drawing the beauty of the area. Several in our group including me purchased items here. You can stay as long or as short as you wish. It's very clean also.

Nice park, well kept and clean. Central attraction is the statue of General Jackson atop his steed as if to rush into the Battle of New Orleans. Lots of beautiful trees and benches to sit & rest in the shade.
