A surprisingly large urban garden showcasing a wide variety of perennial plants. It’s laid out in a way to encourage wandering and there is a lot to discover as you meander including the bucolic Thai pavilion that was gifted by a Taiwanese Alumni group in 2001. According to the signage, it is the only such building in North America. The 20 plus acres of the garden are free to wander. There is also a small tropical green house that costs $6 (although they do have reciprocity with other gardens-so we got in free). Probably not with $6-a couple of interesting orchids and a few small birds and koi but nothing special.

It’s definitely worth an hour or two if you are in the area.

Outstanding plantings bordering so many pathways. The Thai Pavilion is a must see. A tranquil experience: water features are a bonus. A delightful place for walking and unwinding. And, it's free!

Very Good for a free atraction, but not worth making it a "destination". It is well laid out and marked and probably better or worse depending on the season. I have been to too many other botanical gardens to rate this one as excellent.

This garden was packed with delights. We visited in mid-July when it seemed that everything was in full bloom, the glory of a mid-western summer. There were a number of special treats, including a bright green pond (floating plant unknown to this visitor) with a couple of muskrats (?) swimming paths through the greenery. The Thai Pavilion is stunning, a must-see.

Gorgeous gardens and friendly staff. Nice peaceful walk. Right on the lake loop bike trail that loops Lake Monona .
