An ancient historical place dated to Kawan Thissa era (nearly 2000 years ago) and situated in Eastern Province in Sri Lanka. This temple is so close to Pothuvil beach and now see the ruins of "Seema Malaka" and "Sthupa".

A beautiful temple marking the landing site of viharamaha devi. Scattered with stone statues and relics in the white sand dunes makes an impression in your mind. Great view of a clear beach from the dagoba area. Two lonely monks strive to protect this temple from encroachers and litter bugs alike. Help them if you can to protect this piece of history.

antique and modern statues joining together on the large premises. A short walk upto the sandy dunes bring you on top of the hill where the stupa is built. From there you have a nice view over the sea. Large parkingspace, but very dirty, available

Interesting temple - not much to see and there is nothing to read about when it was built or anything. Lovely thing about it was there were no other tourists! Bliss! There was a ceremony going on in the neighbouring temple, which gave my visit a realistic feel.
