“Needs cleaning and refurnishing”

Based on previous remarks, I was expecting to have problems with roads and finding the cabin, but all roads were paved and there was good signage put up by the owners. My intention was to find a log cabin close to my home that I could enjoy with friends and family from time to time. There were surprises: The cabin is for sale. The flooring looks like wood in pictures, but is actually worn linoleum. The rooms were smaller than they appear in the pictures. There is a trick to unlocking and locking the doors. The sofa is actually a love seat and the two chairs were straight backed and not comfortable. The kitchen is in a corner with few cabinets and I completely missed the dishes as they were all in a small cabinet across the kitchen that I thought was just display. I used the microwave to heat soup in a mug but otherwise didn't cook. The fridge was small and dated. There were 2 bottles of water in the fridge, but since both had been opened, I didn't use them. I did not use the upstairs or the hot tub. I decided to stay on the first floor for the night and when I saw that one of the two beds was a water bed (which were popular in the 80s) I opted for the other bedroom. However, after tossing and turning on an uncomfortable mattress for 4 hours, I reluctantly made my way to the water bed. The bathroom fixtures were pretty small and there was only a standing sink so no room to put out toiletries. There was no available Wi-Fi. I was told that the previous guests had used the full allotment of Wi-Fi for the billing period (best get there during the right time of the billing cycle) and the owner suggested I use my mobile phone as a hot spot. I was told that the upstairs TV did not work, but when the great room TV stopped working Sunday morning, I inquired why and was told that each set will only run for 3 hours. The outdoor grill is the size of a hibachi, so a cookout would either be limited to a few people or take a very long time. The linens are old and worn, the furniture is old and mismatched. The cabin needs to be refurnished and freshened. The cost for two nights was $688 but I left after 1 night. Tripadvisor required a $400 deposit which was returned 2 weeks after departure.

Great cabin rental near Gatlinburg. Owner description was very accurate about amenities. Furniture and furnishings were in excellent condition and was well equipped. Extremely clean. Definitely located off of the main stream, but you can be in the middle of town in 15 minutes. My only concern would be if there was snowy weather on how difficult it would be to get there with the narrowness and curviness of the road going up to the cabin.

“Fantastic Mountain Getaway!”

WOW! It exceeded our expectations. We had a little cold weather and the hot tub and fireplace was the perfect solution to relax! We also enjoyed the close location to all the attractions but far away to escape from the world... :) Hungry Bear BBQ is an awesome restaurant (close to the cabin) that one has to check out. . The cabin is right by the Greenbrier (one of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrances) which means when you go for an awesome hike in the Greenbrier (Ramsey Cascades or Porters Creek Trail) you can end it with the tastiest BBQ in Tenn. :) Trillium Lodge is very unique in the fact it feels like home not like the other cabins. The only problem is that we didn't want our vacation to end!

“Top to Bottom, the most terrifying ride in The Smokey Mountains....”

Without a four wheel drive vehicle stay away. If it rains and the road is covered in wet leaves, stay away. Afraid of mountain roads that twist like wet spaghetti, stay away. Passengers that hyperventilate and others praying loud enough for you to hear, stay away. If you forgot to bring enough food for your stay, your doomed to travel down the mountain. If you need a high commode, and something more Senior, disabled friendly, you guessed it...stay away. If your up for a challenge, by all means, this is it....if you can survive the trip up, not afraid of heights, this is for you....other wise, do what we did, swallow your pride and rent a hotel in town....

I don't think the school children who travel our county road every school day would agree with this guest assessment. I certainly don't a
And, I don't get the "high commode" comment either!

Please read the other reviews and ignore this very personal rant!

This was an excellent mountain cabin which my wife and family thoroughly enjoyed. It is located in a scenic location and very private. Everything was as advertised and we are totally satisfied with the experience.
