Owner description: The Gatlinburg Overlook is located on the Gatlinburg Bypass which runs between the Gatlinburg Spur and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Gatlinburg Spur runs between Pigeon Forge TN and Gatlinburg. The Bypass is accessible from the Spur or from the National Park. There are four parking areas on the Bypass. You can exit your vehicle and take in the views. We recommend the 2nd and 3rd parking areas. From the overlooks, you will see the entire town of Gatlinburg with its majestic mountain backdrop.

The tram ride provides a nice view of Gatlinburg, but at peak times they pack 120 people into them so try to go early. The facilities appear unupdated since the 70s-80s. Lunch was disappointing at their restaurant. Seemed like frozen food from a microwave, but wasn't cheap.

This is a nice way to see downtown Gatlinburg and the surrounding mountains without having to pay to go up the skylift, or the space needle. It's also a much quieter setting, being out in nature. Another great thing about this is that, if Gatlinburg traffic is bad, you can just use the bypass and go directly into the national park, and use this overlook to view the town.

It’s definitely worth the drive and a stop to take pictures of Gatlinburg below. I was expecting more, but it is worth the drive. It’s not that much further out of the way, and less traffic than if you don’t take it.

This was something nice to do on a rainy day. Not overly great, but nice to say you did it and saw it.
