This is a beautifully renovated brownstone in Brooklyn. We wanted to stay somewhere with charm that felt like we were part of the neighborhood and this was it. We sat on the stoop everyday and night, just like you see in the movies, and just enjoyed the people walking by and the beautiful tree lined street. Everything looks new inside. The two bedrooms both have queen size beds in them. There are no TV's in the bedrooms (which is usually a must have for me), but we were so exhausted from walking all day that it didn't matter. The subway is about 8 blocks away, but the walk was not bad at all even at night. At first we were not sure about the neighborhood and walking to the subway, but by the end we were so comfortable, we were walking the streets looking for ice cream at 1:30 in the morning! The subway is super easy to take to the city and we just bought the 7 day pass at the subway station so we didn't have to worry about adding money to the card all the time.
Juan is super nice and very helpful. He never intruded, but would answer a text right away if we needed something or were looking for a recommendation.
The only downside was parking. YOU DO NOT NEED A CAR! I tried to tell my friends that but they needed the security blanket of having a car handy. Well, it is a pain to have a car anywhere in NYC and Brooklyn. There is no easy parking. They street clean everyday so you can only park on one side of the street at certain times of the day and then the next day, it is the other side. Once people find their spot, they don't leave. And the time they do the street cleaning is when we would want to be in the city, not hanging out trying to find parking. Juan was such a good host, he moved our car one day for us so we could get to the city early, but I would not expect this of him. He just went way above and beyond. Bottom line...don't rent a car!
This was a beautiful brownstone in the middle of Brooklyn with a fantastic host! We would definitely stay here again!
Lovely brownstone building with very warm reception from hosts. The best way to get there from JFK is by yellow cab..cost me 35 dollars on the meter door to door.subway is ten minutes away. If you've never been to New York it can seem a little scary at first, however be assured this a safe family neighbourhood .the apartment has everything you could need and if if you need something ,the owner who lives downstairs with is family is only to pleases to assist.all in all a first class holiday home which is exactly as it appears on the photos...plenty of fresh towels and sheets to hand...if you want to eat in ,I couldn't find a supermarket locally ,however there is plenty of smaller local shops in the area...just plan ahead and get what you need when you are out..wi fi and Netflix is all included also.
First class rental and first class hosts..many thanks..phil ,Deb and paul
Just returned from 6 nights at this top floor 2 bed apartment. It is very clean and well furnished with 2 double beds and living/kitchen area. A perfect getaway from the hustle of NYC in cool area of Brooklyn. 10 min walk to Utica subway to Manhatten and 35 min taxi from JFK. Good places for breakfast nearby and bus ride to Williamsburg. Suggest getting $31 metrocard for unlimited subway and bus for 7 days.
The apartment has everything you could need including towels, hairdryer, water in fridge, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, coffee, hot chocolate, Apple TV, Netflix. There is everything you need to cook a meal if you so desire....we didn't!
Juan the owner lives on the ground floor with his family and is very helpful without intruding. We hardly saw him but it was good to know we could knock on his door or message him if we needed to.
I would highly recommend this apartment.
We had a wonderful stay - great host, spotlessly clean apartment, fantastic neighborhood. Great to experience Brooklyn - fantastic local businesses and neighbors. Within reasonable walking distance to the A train and felt safe. Unobtrusive and very helpful host. Would stay here again most definitely. Beautiful brownstone buildings and lost to explore in the neighborhood.
