We booked a Sunday lunchtime and were greeted at the door by really friendly staff. Shown to our table it seemed that old New York folk were having an inter generational lunch. Table views were wonderful across to NYC but the food was magnificent all courses hit the spot. Go there for a classy relaxed experience. It has it all.

This was our first time at the River Cafe. It was for our anniversary and we were looking for a romantic dinner on the water. We walked in and were seated at a table "next" to a table that was next to the water. We still had fantastic views but were really close to the couple sitting at the window. The courses do come out pretty quick for fine dining as we felt sort of rushed. Overall I am glad we tried something new and different and I would recommend this restaurant to see if you enjoy it. I think we would have enjoyed it more without the couple sitting right on top of us. All of the staff were pleasant enough and brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. We will probably not be back but that is just a personal preference as we are still looking for that romantic restaurant in NYC.

Booked this place probably few months before visiting New York for our wedding anniversary.

When we got here they decided to cancel our reservation because my husband was wearing shorts and no suit jacket. They were willing to find a suit jacket but they couldn’t let him in for not having trousers and they suggested to go back to the hotel to change.

My husband was wearing elegant shorts and a lovely shirt during a very hot summer evening in New York. He wasn’t wearing a suit jacket as per confirmation email I received after booking but he was wearing elegant clothes on a summer day night and the message you get when reserving a table “please note attire is required at all times” it doesn’t specify that you need to wear long trousers. Can you wear expensive jeans?

To the restaurant: We’ve been going to expensive places and the important is that you dress elegantly and not in t-shirt or trainers, and have money with you. Maybe you should pay more attention on specifying what do you mean for “proper attire” because there is a basic elegant way of dressing but not necessarily means trousers! We come from London, we know what fashion and elegance means. Sorry.

When leaving they suggested few other restaurant where they would have accepted our dress code (really?) and so they suggested Cecconi’s – 53/83 Water Street. Best suggestion ever! This place is a lovely and beautiful Italian restaurant, with lovely décor, a beautiful view of the river and the food is outstanding! I will be writing them a review after this. Thank you guys for suggesting this place!

Fabulous place to eat. Breakfast was delicious, morning cocktails were lush, service was second to none & the views of the Manhattan Sky Line were amazing. A defo must visit if walking the Brooklyn bridge, but book in advance. The DUMBO is also well worth a visit and is just around the corner. You will not be disappointed.

My husband's 2 daughters treated us to a River Cafe dinner for his 70th birthday, keeping the location a surprise until last minute. Truly a might to remember from the lovely garden entrance under the bridge to the table at the window where we watched boats go by and with the city beyond. Exquisite seafood appetizers and main courses. Excellent service. We didn't want to leave - ever.
