We made a reservation here based on the recommendation of other campers we've met along our travels. I think after all the hype, we were not quite as in love with the place as we anticipated. We had a two week reservation and ended up leaving after a week.
PROS:
First, the camp host was extremely helpful and welcoming.
The entrance is very nice, and the gated aspect of the property is a nice security feature as well.
CONS: The pools were not heated, even though they're advertised as heated online, so the majority of amenities (besides the hot tub) were not on option during our stay.
We also read online that we could rent a kayak or John boat by the hour, but when we tried they only gave us the option of renting the boat for the half day for $50. After paying, we waited for the maintenance man to install the motor to the boat, only then to find out the motor was dead. We ended up using the canoe instead (AT NO DISCOUNT) most of the time instead while he fiddled with the motor. When it was charged and put on the boat, we switched over to the boat but as soon as we left shore it began taking on considerable amounts of water as the plug had not been secured. On our own, we hauled the boat ashore and went through the process of draining,...We made a reservation here based on the recommendation of other campers we've met along our travels. On our own, we hauled the boat ashore and went through the process of draining, flipping, securing the plug, etc. What was intended to be a fun time on the water with my kids turned into a very stressful afternoon. It was a huge waste of money.
The trail around the lake was a good place for us to run or walk our dogs, but only half of the trail is open because of construction on the property right now.
We found the drive into downtown Savannah to see the sights was longer than we expected, and would prefer to stay somewhere closer in the future (if there is something closer, I'm not sure.)
The clerk in the little store was not ever wearing a mask, which I think is just bad business in this pandemic. It certainly deterred us from shopping.More
