Review of Food 101

Food 101
Ranked #2 of 131 Restaurants in Gettysburg
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Step through the door of one of Gettysburg's culinary treasures and be drawn in by the amazing aroma wafting from the open kitchen. A cozy setting within an updated former diner, guests have their pick of small tables or communal dining. The new American cuisine is full of selection and flavor with a changing menu to keep you coming back for something new. Open daily for lunch and dinner, select from fresh salads, sandwiches or dive into an artisan wild mushroom pizza. There's nothing common about the mouth-watering vegetable powerhouse sandwich on wheat berry bread, the muffaletta or any of the chef's seasonal selections. Be sure to include a side of house cut truffle parmesan fries. Save room for a delicious dessert. Made fresh, the selection of cakes and pies are complemented by a frothy cappuccino or caramel macchiato. Lunch or dinner, be sure to make Food 101 part of your next Gettysburg getaway.

We stopped for a late lunch of a turkey BLT with avocado served with a side of couscous and a fresh salad with apples, cranberries, pine nuts and bacon topped with a well seasoned chicken breast. The restaurant is very small but clean with excellent service. The meal was topped of with vanilla cake and blueberry compote. Everything was delicious.

We had lunch here and agreed that the food was very tasty and more importantly, very fresh. We shared a sandwich and a salad and though both were delicious. Service was friendly. Note this is very casual - more of a diner. Recommend if you are in Gettysburg.

My wife said, The Grilled Chicken Panini "...is the best sandwich I've ever had." I had the burger and homemade chips and I literally cleaned the plate. Great way to end a long day of sightseeing.

My husband and I had a delightful lunch at Food 101. Great atmosphere and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We tired the coconut curry cauliflower soup, the Parmesan truffle fries and the club sandwich. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake. Best food we have had out in awhile! The service was wonderful--friendly, helpful and attentive. We definitely plan to return!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food at Food 101, but it sure would have been better with a glass or two of wine! As out of towners, we had no idea that they do not serve alcohol. Fine food without a glass of wine? No! Other diners knew better and brought their own bottle. We felt sort of clueless and left out!
