On arrival, the owner told us we owed $28 in additional taxes above what the contract said on the Air B&B website and we were told we must pay that in cash. Our party of 5 rented all 3 rooms for 2 nights. We spent both days touring Gettysburg and the national cemetery, only coming back to our rooms to sleep after dinner. We are all over 60 and only read and slept in our rooms. There was no boisterous behavior. The breakfasts were uneventful. When we got home, we received notice from Air B&B that the owner was claiming $150 in damages. We were accused of breaking the plunger in the bath tub, damaging a lamp in a bedroom, staining a dining room chair and spilling so much food on the floor that the carpet needed to be cleaned. There is not a shred of truth to any of these accusations - they are all completely invented or imagined. The Air B&B mediator decided we owed $60 of the $150 the owner tried to claim. I have no idea how that decision was made but the 5 of us are at least determined that no one else sign up for this rental without knowing that you will be leaving yourself open to bogus damage claims and tax beyond what the Air B&B site said the lodging would cost.
