Owner description: Visitors can tour this government building that sits on a knoll, overlooking downtown to the east and the Arkansas river to the north, and bears a striking resemblance to the U.S. Capitol building.

i was not able to go inside as it was after 5 when i arrived so i figured it was closed to the public for the day and for that reason i simply just walked around the outside admiring the architecture instead and the surrounding complex. Worth a stop if your in town and looking for things to do.

It was a very interesting tour. The capitol is beautiful. And you can hold a quarter of a million dollars in the treasurer's office! The outside grounds had many monuments to see.

We explored the capitol and it was very nice. The brass doors are huge and the murals are a worth see. Several other rooms were closed off for repairs. The staff were very nice and they answered lots of questions. Parking is a nightmare.

Arkansas State Capitol was built in 1911 in the style of the national Capitol in DC. It still retains the original charm and beauty of design. It and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It rises above the surrounding buildings and can be seen from most of the downtown area. Open to the public most days other than some holidays but check before going.

There were engagement photos being done on the garden grounds on a Sunday. Nice touch that AR people are proud of their state reps, & tend the grounds so elegantly
