I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in the Executive King. the room was very nice and spacious. its in a wonderful location very near and walking distance to everything. Aerial checked us in she was very nice and pleasant and got us checked in fast and easy. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel itself is just so so; it's definitely showing it's age. However, you could not find a finer staff if you stayed at the Ritz! Everyone was amazingly friendly, all seemed to like eachother and get along and did everything they could to make their guests comfortable. When you left your room, it was like they magically knew and it was always clean when you returned. Even though old, it was kept clean.
The front desk staff (forgive the spelling) Nzingha, Guillermo and the gracefully beautiful strawberry blonde who bravely faced travelers waiting for rooms were happy, patient and pleasant. You never felt rushed or got an ounce of attitude when asking questions or checking on room availability. Probably the best part, though, was the small breakfast counter that is open from 6 am to noon daily. I had the pleasure of encountering Dolly and John and they made me feel like I was on the back porch, hanging out with the neighbors. Either these people are really good actors or these guys really love their jobs! They were so nice; just the right amount of friendly. Not intrusive but attentive and, truly, just lovely. We have stayed in many places in NYC and many have been fancier, newer or more upscale but none of them made us feel as at home as The Manhattan. We have already made our reservations to go back later this year.

Room Tip: We asked for a Times Square view which was just a few dollars more. It was worth it; very nice.

Brought my 10-year-old cousin for her first trip to NYC for making all As in school this year. This hotel's location is great for access to the subway, and easy to navigate to anything in the city.
While the lobby is lovely, the rooms could stand a refresh in the very near future. However, the rooms are larger than many NYC hotels, and the staff is very friendly/accommodating.
What REALLY puts it at the 5-star mark...Will & Dolores at the breakfast bar in the mornings. You won't find better staff to greet you and get you started on your day! Truly, I hope the Manhattan at Times Square knows what gems they possess in those two employees.

Firstly, don't believe everything you read. When checking in we were told to immediately review the hotel on tripadvisor and give a 5* rating and write amazing reviews. This is SO wrong. Tripadvisor should be a trusted service to truthfully let travellers express their reviews. We were put under immense pressure to do this and at one point I had a staff member take my phone to log me into WiFi and open the tripadvisor review website so that we can start our 'amazing' reviews.
I just really wanted to write this so people know what is going on!

This aside, the hotel itself is fine. Nothing special at all and infact very run down. Our room was not sound proof and we could hear the corridors, streets and water cooler next door constantly. The bedroom and bathroom are clean but extrememly basic. A good renovation is needed but for a cheaper NYC hotel it does the job.
Staff (beside from the tripadvisor incident) were lovely and helpful.

Overall a good basic hotel that I recommend but definitely nothing worth the 4/5* reviews.

We appreciate your feedback, Lindsey.

We're disheartened to hear that your stay with us was less than ideal. We strive to make our guests feel welcome and relaxed as soon as they walk through our doors, and your experience does not reflect this level of service. We will address your concerns regarding our check-in process as well as our sound insulation with the appropriate members of our team so we can improve for the future. We hope to welcome you back for a more positive experience.
