Stayed at the Marriott East Side this past week with 3 friends. We had fun in the bar and the concierge was helpful and nice. We were having a great stay until $300 cash and $100+ headphones were stolen from our room on the last day. Marriott security proved that the only one that accessed the room other than us was the maid service. After multiple interviews they told us they could do nothing for us. Thought Marriott was an upscale place that stood behind its good name. At $400 a night for multiple nights-did they actually think we were trying to shake them down for some of the money we paid them? Not staying here anymore.

The amenities seem fairly standard for a hotel of this cost. Breakfast on the second floor is not available unless you're a member of some Marriott-worship group. Well, you can get in for a fee which the door-keeper lady was not about divulge to us in a hurry (we must have looked like we couldn't afford it, in our holiday clothes) so we went to the ground floor breakfast place (café by day, bar by night - very functional use of space) which sold inexpensive bagels and coffee (warning to Australians - the coffee here is terrible). House-keeping was of a high standard - consistently over the 4 nights we stayed here. Front desk and wait-staff also all of a high standard.

The Marriott Eastside is one of my favorite go to hotels when in NYC. As a fan of Broadway, it is easy to walk to and from a play. And there are plenty of dining options near the hotel. From quaint neighborhood diners on Second Avenue to plenty of fine dining spots nearby. The staff has always been very accommodating if any issues presented themselves so recommend it highly!

Room Tip: Quieter floors higher and facing into the courtyard.

Four of us had just returned from a cruise to Bermuda and landed in New Jersey and our hotel. Dial 7 picked us up from the hotel in a late model SUV. The SUV was large enough for the four of us plus luggage. Excellent friendly driver took us over into the city, to the New York Marriott East Side on Lexington and 49th Street. Comfortable ride for a very good price.
Then the fun began. Our reception and registration at the hotel was five-star service. The curb service and desk help were first rate. The hotel was clean and comfortable but we weren’t there for the hotel. We wanted to see the City. The location of this hotel was perfect. Easy to get around town either by bus, taxi, the Ho-Ho red bus or just walking. Which we did plenty of. Again, the hotel staff and location was perfect for what we wanted to do. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks guys for taking care of us.

Room Tip: Transportation was easy to get right outside at the curb.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a coach tour. It was manic trying to get to the front of the hotel with the coach as it was the evening of the Tony Awards and lots of roads were closed by the police. The room was nice and big but very gloomy, the lights were needed at all times. The hotel is very centrally located close to a lot of the sights, but noisy because of this. I can't decide whether it was best to be central or out of the city and a quiet location, it depends what you are looking for.

Room Tip: Room 604 was a nice size but gloomy
