Per se is dedicated to image and reputation, both of which are highly
questionable. On entering we found the air conditioning set for "Igloo,"
which matched the general atmosphere. The waitstaff was distant (literally
and figuratively), the food was disappointing (especially when one considers
the tariff), and the portions were scanty. Contrast Per Se with Daniel, for
example, and its no contest.

The experience was amazing from the moment my mom and I walked in. The wait for our waiter to come and greet us was surprisingly quick since the restaurant was busy on a Friday night. I was very worried that the steak won't be as good and won't meet up to the hype because i assumed they will be quick to be able to accommodate more people, but no everything was delicious and worth every dollar. The hospitality of the staffs is very warm, definitely a good start and an amazing end of a night for me and mom at Per se. After our dinner, my mom had strawberry and cream, which I was able to have a bite from, and I am glad I did because it was heavenly made.

We are fortunate to have eaten now at both the French laundry a couple of years ago and now here and we were not disappointed. The food is indescribably amazing- as we expected. Our standout dishes were the pigeon and one of the desserts that had thyme ice cream. But what made it even more special was the staff and Thomas Keller himself. My husband and I were giddy awestruck kids when we caught sight of him in the dining room and he was kind enough to come over and shake our hands and say hello. But all the staff who came to our table were engaging and just wonderful. From sharing recipe tips to providing us recommendations for future travels to Europe, return trips to NY and even for our hometown Boston- this just made the evening extra special. Their interactions with us just added to the forever memorable food.

Fine dining for sure and you shall not forget of it. They keep on reminding you that they are a fine dining place, i gets it since there is a reputation and class to be maintain, and properness, staffs are all very accomodative, experienced, and all very proffesionally done. Food I have no complain, was soooo goodddd like good good good. We are casual people so i feel bit intimidated by all the properness. not allowed to be on the phone on the table, have to go out to call( hubby was politely asked to get out outside for a call he was making during dinner) , need to come with profer long shirt or coat( he was given some coat that the restaurant provided for people who come underdressed) . All done politely but for people who like to dress down, please prepare your self with more formal wear
We are with kids and they allow kids to order not the set menu but just some pasta and beef and by the end pasta and dessert for kids was free. i had a taste of the pasta and was soooo good i wish i can order that pasta. really recomended for people who love good food ( wine a bit over priced) but also good selection. just remember its better to be overdress then underdressed here

The tasting menu I had was great, every course very good, you almost wanted another bit. I think it was 9 courses, I would say 7 of the nine were exceptional, this I would say was the only thing I did not like. It was a fixed menu with a couple of options. It is expensive but I knew that coming in and was worth it.
The service was exceptional , my friends had flight problems and they showed up almost at close, but no problems they joined me and they brought some food out for them. We were the last ones out thanks
