“Great deal for the price”
Reviewed 20 July 2018 for a stay in July 2018

Loved the location: An East Village neighborhood full of diversity both human and businesses/restaurants, short walk to metro. Apartment was clean, well supplied with all needs and owner even left flowers and water and coffee. He was very accommodating.

“Comfortable flat, slightly awkaward transport links”
Reviewed 26 June 2018 for a stay in May 2018

This is a small but comfortable flat, which easily accomodated two adults and a child. The bathroom is clean, the kitchen reasonably well equipped. The air conditioning worked well and so did the wi-fi.

The owner is friendly and responsive.

The only downside is the fact that the nearest train or underground stations are nearly 15 min walk away.

“Awesome spot for a couple to enjoy New York City!!!”
Reviewed 31 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

The location is excellent but the room is the best!! Good AC in the bedroom, clean room and well appointed Bath! Close to major streets so it was easy to get a cab everywhere!
Highly Recommend the place!!

“This apartment is probably best suited for backpackers and under-30s but comes at a cost that does not reflect the value”

The apartment was big enough and comfortable enough for two for a month-long stay in New York. It included all the basics with the owner leaving kitchen and toiletry items you would not expect in a holiday rental. Some of the kitchen items showed signs or wear and tear and could do with replacing. A conventional electric kettle would also be useful, instead of the glass jug which was provided for boiling water - especially for long term guests. The television reception and number of stations was poor. However, the WiFi was exceptionally good and made up for the quality of the television. The apartment was clean but laundering of pillows and duvet was not done prior to our visit. (It has been suggested to the owner that this be done prior to each rental in the interest of hygiene) There was sufficient clean towels and bed-linen. The biggest disappointment was the overall state of the building with building management not cleaning access ways or entry porches. Household trash was often not placed in bins and building management made only a superficial effort to manage the disposal of rubbish. This meant the only window, overlooking the street, could not be opened because it was located directly above the rubbish bins. A suggestion would be to view the apartment building on Google Earth before committing to the rental. Also learn more about area to decide if it is appropriate for you. The closest Subway was a stiff 10 minute walk away, on the corner of 14th Street and 1st Avenue. The apartment had a superb laundromat almost outside the front door on the corner of Avenue B. The best bagel shop in Manhattan (no kidding) Thompsons, at 165 Avenue A, was also a short walk away. The shop would have regulars queueing for up to an hour, over weekends, to have their own creations made up.

“East Village student-type studio”

This apartment itself seemed more in keeping with what a student might want, as opposed to mature travelers. The main difficulties were: the bed in the "bedroom" was a very poor sleep - if one person turned over in bed, the whole bed bounced. There was little space in the room and no light on each side of the bed for night reading. The TV only got about 2 stations and was tempermental. However, the kitchen was well supplied and workable. The space was beautifully located in the Village, but we don't think we would return in the future.
