The Westin Times Square is a great location for visiting NYC and Broadway. My two daughters and I visit during winter break every year and typically stay at another brand but this year we waited too long to make our reservation and was lucky enough to get a room at The Westin. The room was large and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The restaurants were very good although expensive. I was stunned by the bill at breakfast. Our stay was great and I would definitely return.

Took three couples on 12/2-12/4, for early Christmas. Gabrielle Mariano, westin experience specialist. Reservations were messed up when we arrived and Gabrielle found me and got everything corrected and checked on us three times during stay. Never had experienced thus before by a hotel chain. Wonderful you Lady.

Sometimes it's the small things that make all the difference.

The bad:

- Housekeeping room service was really slow - requested firmer pillows on day of arrival, went out, and came back hours later. No pillows. I rang the desk, they said they would send someone up, took about 45 minutes for anyone to turn up.
- Requested extra towels one morning because we had used some the night before. Again this took around 45 minutes before anyone even turned up
- No shower gel, just basic SOAP.
- Bathroom tiles show lack of cleanliness as grouting contained black mould which should be easy to treat through routine maintenance and cleaning
- Bed head board didn't look like it had ever been dusted
- Front desk very slow to answer the phone
- Shipped a package just before New Year's eve but it was held hostage for 3 days in the FedEx office while the New Year's break kept that facility closed
- Housekeeping only put out one water bottle in a room with two guests (and on one day they even forgot)
- Internet was not complimentary and the daily rate is very expensive
- Breakfast in Foundry is confusing and weird - you can choose continental or "American" but you must decide before you eat, and they'll seat you on a different floor depending on what you choose. This means that if you're eating with someone else you both need to choose the same breakfast style or you'll be split up. Never seen this before.
- Continental breakfast offering was very basic
- Requested a bed linen change one night because there was a strange mark on the quilt cover. Came back to find that only the sheets had changed

The good:

- I asked for my Internet to be included for free and they obliged
- Room was spacious and the views were decent (Floor 18, facing Times Square)
- They will accept outside food deliveries
- Bed was comfortable
- Despite being just off of busy Times Square the room was quiet and shielded from street noise

Great service, fantastic rooms, and conveniently located to the exciting Times Square and the peaceful opposite end of Manhattan. Fast room service for morning cleanings and perfectly sized rooms. Sure the building is older, but Westin still provides a clean, updated environment.

Once every year, we choose to stay at this Westin whenever we travel to NYC due to its popular time square location. I feel like their personal touches in the room are declining each year. Our room only had the bare essentials like the one each of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hand soap. I had to call down to request for body wash, a second bottle of shampoo and conditioner as we ladies have super long thick hair. Only one bottle of water provided in the double room where all the rest of hotels we've been in the past had 2 bottles. Housekeeping certainly did not do a thorough job in the bathroom as my sister went in she was horrified that the toilet was unsightly. No big deal, she flushed it. Little things like these make a huge difference in the comfort of our stay.

The only upside is that our room is rather spacious and the mattress is comfortable.

We had hoped to make this Westin our tradition as we absolutely love the location it's in and the close proximity to all the things we want to do when we visit New York, unfortunately we will have to reconsider and search for another hotel for next year. Just not what we expect from a Westin anymore.
