Walking down Broadway and we fell upon this park. It had an amazing food and craft market. Not sure if it is there everyday.

There are lots of places to eat, and quite a few market stalls selling mainly fresh fruit and vegetables. Some of the vendors let you taste their products too.
There were lots of people sitting in the square eating their lunch. Area has a good cosmopolitan feel.

Time Square is an touristic attraction. Union Square is real NYC. from one side you have Hare Krishna, from other side people protesting agains something, on third side people are having their lunches of coffees while dressed up people play chess with no so dressed up people not listening to some homeless veteran telling the story of his life (at least he claims so). Just sit watch and enjoy.

There was a children's book-reading area, a Zumba class, places to sit, statuary, and a little oasis in the city.
