For a free attraction you can't beat it! The Brooklyn Bridge is a grand old dame that links Manhattan and Brooklyn. Now over 125 years old she has stood the test of time, and offers magical views across the city skyline, including one that takes in that other elderly lady, the Statue of Liberty. Stroll at your own pace, which is easier to do when it is less crowded - earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

Great way to see the beautiful sights of New York! So enjoy a walk or take a bike either way it’s great exercise and there is plenty of room and lots of others enjoying the experience.

I did this walk at 5am on my second day in NYC. It was phenomenal to see the activity on the bridge in that hour if the day. I was out there early enough to get the sunrise over the Manhattan bridge. The skyline in all directed across to Brooklyn and back to Manhattan is breathtaking. Teasing the story of how the bridge came to be was inspiring. Fascinating story and an engineering miracle for 1860. Worth doing

Walking across Brooklyn is a must do experience!

I walked both directions but if you can only do one direction, walking from Brooklyn towards Manhattan is the choice for views of the sky line. In either direction you will also catch a glimpse of the Statue of liberty. I visited in June when it was very hot but you can stop by the pillars for a bit of shade along the way. The foot path is a few meters from Brooklyn Bridge City Hall subway station. Allow at least 30 minutes each way.

Be sure to visit Brooklyn Bridge Park when you reach Brooklyn for more amazing views. The park is a short walk from the bridge.

This is a great place to go for an evening stroll after dinner. Parking was easy on neighbouring streets on the Brooklyn side. Our walk from our car to Manhattan and back was 45 minutes. The breeze was refreshing and the view was enchanting. Bring a bobby pin or baseball hat so your kippa doesnt blow off in the wind.
