Holiday Inn Express hotels are our "go to" hotel chain when we travel. Comparatively speaking, this location we stayed at in the San Diego area was average. Not the best, but not the worst either.
Let's start with the good. The bed was very comfortable. There was a security guard patrolling the property in the evening. Felt safe. They had my favorite cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Staff I encountered were helpful and polite.
The not so good. Parking spaces are tight and cramped. Be very careful when parking here. Ended up parking near Phil's Bbq one night cause there were not enough spaces in the main lot. For breakfast, the area where the food is served is too small. Not much room to maneuver back there. Was very crowded during breakfast time on the two mornings we were here. No table to sit at cause they were all taken. Ended up taking the food to the room. Compared to other HIE hotels, this one seemed dated and in need of a makeover for the rooms and hallway.
Will probably try a different HIE the next time we stay at the San Diego area. Overall, though, our stay was adequate.More
