We were very happy with our stay. The neighbourhood is quiet and we felt safe even late at night. The owner is very helpful. The subway is fairly close and convenient for downtown Boston.

The appartment was spotless and cozy areal home away from home. Loved the neighbourhood, we had a rentalcar and didn`t use the nearby public transport. Always easy to find parkingspace. Highly recommended.

“Feels like home away from home.”

First off, let me preface this by saying that I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this property and owner earned every star!

For the short cliff's notes version of our stay, here are the pro's and con's:

PRO: Quiet, Cozy, Kitchen fully stocked with equipment, close to groceries, close to T (subway), just a short drive from everything, very accommodating host.

Cons: The same cozy architecture lends itself to creaky floorboards, street parking sometimes full. Spotty/slower internet, and basic cable.

Summary:
This was a trip for me, my parents, my sister, and my fiancee. We all stayed here at this property on the 2nd floor. We were in town for my graduation (Boston University) and wanted to all stay together for a week, enjoying the city and all it has to offer. We spend most of our time wandering the city and surrounding areas like martha's vinyard, etc.

We spend all nights sleeping at the property, and cooked all breakfasts', and two dinners at the flat. The place was very cozy, quaint, and cute, with older architecture that really gave it character. My fiancee loves older buildings with creaky wood floors and real wood everything...I also appreciate older buildings, as long as they don't come with the old building smells and problems. This one did not. It was nicely updated where it needed to be (i.e. bathroom and kitchen)

The thing I liked most about this place was the consideration by the owners to the details. I thought hospitality lay solely in the south where I'm from, but Olive does a great job of making sure the apartment is stocked with stuff travelers may need, but can't bring: iron, ironing board, kitchen with pots, pans, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dish-washing supplies, small cooler for picnics, ice packs in freezer, Tupperware, towels, fans. This all seems pretty standard, but you'd be surprised at how many places I've had to wear wrinkle bomb shirts all week because an iron wasn't supplied. So needless to say, it was nice to have those available.

The only con's like I mentioned above were very minor. The creaky floorboard...since we were on the second floor, there was a family renting above us on the third with a small child. The small child apparently liked to do somersaults and circus tricks across the length of the apartment. While it was noticeably loud, it was always at considerably appropriate times. We did not have a problem sleeping.

Also, the internet only worked in the back part of the apartment, and was extremely slow. This was not a big issue for our party, since we all had smart phones and cell reception was excellent there. If we wanted to look something up, we had the option of using our phone.

The television was kind of a mystery to us. There was a comcast cable box, which looked like it received all kinds of channels, but most of it was unavailable, leaving a handful of basic channels to watch. Again, this wasn't a big deal for us, since we didn't come on vacation to plop in front of the couch and watch tv. That being said, we did rent a movie from the local redbox and watch a movie on the tv w/ the dvd player supplied one night.

Overall, the ease at which we booked, arrived, and left gave us a positive trip experience we would never forget. We only met Olive one time at the front door, and she was so laid back and nice.

Oh, and street parking in front of the property was just fine for most of the week, but late at night on week days or late on weekends you might have to circle the block a few times to find a spot for your car...just be sure to keep an eye on parking signs.

Liked best: quiet neighborhood, convenience of location, considerate host
Liked least: creaky floorboards, spotty wifi internet

“Perfect for a family”

Ok where to start. Firstly the area. Lovely quiet residential street. Nearby (5mins) south street has loads of restaurants, shops etc and there is a very handy (although a bit pricey) alternative store. The apartment is very clean and very well stocked with everything you may need. Good wi fi and tv with basic channels. Any questions we had were answered by olive and her partner who provided good local info and recommendations. The T is about ten mins walk away. The perfect base to explore Boston and $18 for a charliecard will take you wherever you want to go in the city for a whole week. Overall wonderful. The second bedroom took our three kids great with loads of room to spare. Good storage for luggage.
