My stay started pleasantly with a cheerful greeting from the parking valet, but quickly went downhill. The reception area was chaotic, hopelessly understaffed, loud and disorganized. It took forever. I thought I would be a able to avoid it as I had used mobile check in - that was wrong.
As a platinum elite, we are entitled to certain benefits, among these are lounge access and breakfast. At this hotel, you get neither on the weekend, but in fairness they do tell you this at booking. That’s patently cheap, but that’s there prerogative. Another benefit is 4pm checkout, something that I confirmed at booking. But amazingly at check in they told me “we are a convention hotel” and we don’t honor that benefit either despite having the 4pm in writing from their staff. After a long discussion with the manager Tim, he “gave” a 2pm checkout and said he would consider the additional 2 hours in the morning. This was particularly annoying I had checked this very point when I booked as I needed the late checkout.
Finally, and why should I be surprised, the bill was screwed up and I was charged for valet parking even though that was included in the rate. So they did remove that $60 zinger without too much fuss, though that too was complicated from an administrative standpoint.
This self-described “convention hotel” takes its title very seriously, providing zero Platinum elite benefits and generally treating guests like fungible customer units. There are so many more choices in Boston, unless of course your convention booked this hotel. I was not attending a convention and hence I will choose accordingly.
