Room was large but furniture left a bit to desire. Queen beds were acceptable and comfortable. Continental breakfast was acceptable but lacked variety. Grounds need to be improved. Staff was friendly but forgot to call us when our room was ready.

Room tip: 1st floor is our choice.

Warning to all travellers: there are plenty of clean, comfortable, and better-priced motels in Gunnison, so give the Water Wheel Inn a pass. We booked a room for two days, and in that time received no maid service. The bedroom and bathroom facilities were filthy, showing months of accumulated dirt and grime in all but the traffic areas, a testament to cursory housekeeping at best. The chairs were soiled with large, oily stains that no one even wiped up, let alone cleaned, and the room itself was malodorous. Because there was no maid service, we needed to dry our towels in order to reuse them the second day. The pillows were so flat and lumpy we were compelled to buy our own in town so we could use them during our second night. The television was ancient, difficult to operate, and provided both a poor picture and tinny sound. This motel is beyond substandard, and its owners should be ashamed of themselves for first price-gouging their patrons and then offering them such mediocre fare. Travellers, do yourselves a favor and stay elsewhere. As for us, we will not return to this motel in the future.

Spent a couple nights. Pretty basic older motel, but quite accommodating. Decent reheat hot breakfast on a low budget. Could sure use new pillows. Will stay there again but don't come with high end expectations.

This place taught me to never spend less than $150/night on a hotel. This place was cheap aka nicely priced if you really need a place to sleep. But don't go based on what they say on their website or the pictures. I went there expecting a nice place in the mountains, nice getaway. But nothing like advertised. No pond or waterfall, old fashioned tiny tv, sticky carpet, smelt weird, and poor views next to busy road and mostly motorcyclists seemed to be checked in, staff defiantly not friendly, they acted more like you're annoying. For the same price, you can find a better place.

I really liked this hotel because it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the room, and the staff responded and corrected the issue immediately. The breakfast was a plus.
