We only had a weekend at Sorrel River Ranch in Moab, and were very disappointed we didn't have more time. It's a beautiful property, situated right on the Colorado River with amazing views. The staff are excellent, and while it's a bit pricey, we felt it worth every penny. One of the most unique places we've ever stayed.

Thank you for your stay and leaving these kind words. There's definitely a lot more to do around Moab and Sorrel River Ranch than can fit in a weekend. Feel free to come back any time and see some more sights and have some more adventures. We love our repeat guests.

Let me preface this review by saying that we splurged to stay here. I understand that the whole Moab area is gorgeous and you may not want to invest your dollars at this resort, but there's a LOT to take advantage of if you do.

First, THE ROOMS.
Wow. We booked the mountain view suite but got a river view upgrade (thanks guys!) and it was amazing. I would have regretted not booking the river suite, because I would not have been able to sit in the bathtub, watching the sun set over the river. Enough said.

Second THE STAFF.
There was one unfortunate exception (I'll get to that later), but otherwise everyone who works at this place is incredible. They "get" service-- and they do it with friendliness and dignity. We looked forward to sharing our adventure stories with them at the end of every day. Also, they took feedback really well and clearly tried their best to make our stay as fabulous as possible.

Third THE FACIILITY.
This is a ranch, which is SO perfect. We loved our horseback tour of Ida Gulch with their resident horse whisperer. We hiked the property one day and took fabulous photos. The petting zoo melted my heart. And our river float tour brought us straight back to our room from the banks of the Colorado.

Fourth THE TOURS.
I think Tyler, their tour guide, deserves his very own shout out. Tyler is awesome, and we had such a good time exploring Arches, Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands with him. We also had him take us to the Fiery Furnace district of Arches-- an exclusive experience that was the absolute highlight of the trip. Tyler is super knowledgeable, laid-back, and everything you'd want in a tour guide.

Fifth THE FOOD.
Moab is not known for its food, so serious foodies beware. That said, the Sorrel River Ranch restaurant made our dining experience as stellar as everything else. Local pastured meat, river fish, and most importantly farm fresh produce made every meal amazing. The wine in Moab is not particularly notable, but whatever-- that's not what you go there for.

The major weakness: THE SPA
I don't know what happened here. We already shared our grievances with the staff so I won't go into much detail, but the spa was a major disappointment. I think they were understaffed at the time, but it was no excuse for the prices they were charging. We had one therapist in particular who had the absolute worst attitude. I hope they've stepped up their game in this department.

I'm so glad we decided to call this home base during our stay in Moab. I know that many people choose to do Moab in 48 hours-- one day for Arches and one for Canyonlands-- but I strongly encourage you to travel slowly through this place. The most beautiful times of day are morning and dusk, so take your time and it will reveal its treasures to you. And no better place to relax than Sorrel River Ranch!

Thank you so much for this review. At Sorrel River Ranch, we do strive across all fronts to make sure your stay is amazing. We are especially pleased you felt at home here. We are also happy to hear that you voiced any concerns you had with our staff during your stay so that we would have a chance to address and remedy them while you were here. We agree that doing Moab in 48 hours is ill-advised. Even us locals are still finding fun new adventures and hidden gems close to the Resort. Please feel free to visit us again any time and we'll show you new activities, new dining menu options and more experiences to take advantage of.

What a wonderful surprise and what an elegant ranch right on the Colorado River in Moab Utah. Stay two nights with family and visited national parks during the day plus enjoyed the exquisite cuisine and wonderful ambience of this quiet ranch. The Hummer tour in Moab was one of the most exciting outings in decades!!

Incredible grounds full of natures beauty and a top quality staff, Spa and restaurant.
A bit pricey but for such an experience it's well worth it.
Surrounded by the river and majestic rock walls.
Incredible to say the least.
No wonder Bill Gates and Warren Buffet stayed there.

The location is fabulous. After that, it all goes downhill. There is nothing luxurious about this place except the prices. Our room faced the Colorado River (otherwise, why bother to stay?). A note signed by three employees (!) claiming to clean our room did absolutely nothing more than throw the comforter over the bed (seriously). They list a gym on the website but it has nothing but 3 antiquated dusty machines in a dirty room and their van, which is perpetually parked literally outside the door, makes for a not great view. Our expensive dinner (we originally had 2 planned but canceled the second after our first experience), was so limited because they didn't have a lot of menu items (and the menu is small). It was only 7.30pm too. They listed live music, a man and his guitar, which could be nice, but he played in this huge, catering hall kind of place, to just the few people dining there and left after just one hour (there is no such thing as simply sipping a cocktail listening to music because of Utah's alcohol laws; that's another story altogether). There is no turn down service, nor working phones in the room (the hotel's phone, not a cell), and practically every door on property needs to be oiled. The spa was a sketch and a half: we reserved a couples massage for 80 minutes. We arrive to see a couple of employees doing nothing, which is OK, but then they starting frantically looking for the release form, which they couldn't find. After we answered them: "yes, we would like our couples massage in the same room", they looked at us crazy. They didn't give us the 80 minutes we reserved but just 50. The massages were OK, at best. Like I said, nothing about this ranch is luxurious except the prices and location. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Room tip: If you have buckets of money that you don't mind throwing away, then stay here but only in a room facing the Colorado River.

Dear Nancy,

Thank you for your stay with us and taking time to provide this review and feedback. We take all guest feedback seriously and actively use the information provided to improve the guest experience. While we strive to exceed expectations 100% of the time, we admit that sometimes this doesn't happen. And I'm sure it's of little consolation to know that your experience is atypical. Your specific concerns are being looked into and addressed with appropriate personnel so that your regretfully unsatisfactory experience will remain as isolated as possible. Again, we understand this doesn't necessarily help your experience, but if you think of anything that can, feel free to reach out to us and discuss your thoughts with our management team.
