With hotels, it is often the case that one gets what one pays for. No one should compare this hotel with a modern or more upscale hotel. This is an old, oft refurbished building where on my stay the elevator did not work and the shower ran cold. These inconveniences should not distract from the high. Ale to be placed on the good natured staff, whose cheer was a decided plus. The location allows for a nice walk or two, with restaurants not too far away. Adjacent to the hotel is a middle eastern restaurant which was pretty good. No room service, but one can get carry out if the menus at the front desk suit your needs. Bed was fine; maid service continued the good cheer.

Very charming and interesting hotel in a great location, within walking distance to the financial district and many desirable areas of San Fran. It is nicely, and colorfully decorated, with interesting art, textures, and attention to detail, a terrific restaurant, especially for breakfast, and very friendly service overall. I highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a smaller hotel with local charm and personality.

The rooms are perfectly good if you plan to be spending most of your time outside. The location is within 15 minutes walking of most attractions and the complimentary wine every day is a nice touch. Bottomline is, this is a great hotel for its price.

Some of the friendliest front desk people I've met. Great service. Great room location (corner room 605). Sound from the halls does come inside so it can get a little loud in the morning and at night. Walls seems to be a little thin.

Room Tip: Corner rooms (605)

Small hotel with small room in the city center. Left early on Saturday morning and spent day at Fishermans Wharf. Returned middle of afternoon for a nap and shower find an unmade room. Was late afternoon before room was cleaned. Accommodations adequate, but nothing special.
