What a brilliant find in the Ferry Building. They serve a selection of high end traditional teas as well as foods.

The spicy hand stretched noodles with chicken was superb and very flavourful.

Tip- take the noodles with spicy ginger beer !

Stopped for tea, stayed for delicious dim sum. They performed traditional tea ceremony and provided excellent service, tea and food. Some of the best shrimp dumplings and baked spring rolls.

People cannot seriously give this place 4.5 average, this is an absolute joke ! I live in Asia, my wife is Asian, so we know what this stuff should be, or how much it would cost. We have been in the USA for a few weeks now and have eaten decent Asian food, and sometimes even very fairly priced.
This is none of the above: 3USD for a super bland 'savory' bun, or 5USD for the 'saturday special' pork belly bun (all to take away), is an absolute insult to Asian food. What pisses me off the most is that I know these poeple know what this should be, and that they cook it better at home. This is really a slap in the face for anyone looking for something even midly authentic. The buns were extremely bland, it was just meat put inside a steam bread. Zero effort to add in sauces, condiments, slaw, crushed peanuts, whatever you want, but this is actually the first time I have eaten a bun so mediocre, and so expensive.
We ate last night in Chinatown for a fraction of this price, and it was much better.

When you go to San Francisco, you usually expect a bunch of special places and different things that you wouldn't find anywhere. Imperial wasn't that. Imperial, as good as it was, was pretty ordinary. I wouldn't go out of my way to get food there, but if you happened to have a liking for Dim Sum while you walked by this place in the Ferry Building, it's not bad.

We came around kitchen closing time, actually, the kitchen had just closed so they were not receiving any more orders. But the guy at the counter asked the kitchen staff it they could take one more order, and they let us in! The service is pretty good. Just the ordinary person, not special. The guy was kind of quiet- I couldn't really hear what he was saying when he explained how the tea works, but he was nice.

The food was pretty good, too. Again, not special. We ordered the Lychee Black tea, some Pork Buns, Shrimp Dumplings, Tea Eggs, and wontons in Jasmine broth with noodles. The tea was very good and warming, and the presentation was really nice. It had a sweet, delicate flavor to it. The tea eggs were cold and not as good as the ones you get at the Chinese market, so I wouldn't go here specifically for that. The pork buns were pretty good. I liked the texture of the meat a lot. The buns were also hot- nice and steamy hot. The wontons, with lots of that seaweed stuff, were also good. You could kind of taste the Jasmine in it, but just the slightest hint.

Overall, if you really want Chinese food, stop by here. If you want some good, hot tea, go here. But don't go out of your way to go here, there are plenty of other places that can do better than this.

Wow, been coming to Ferry Building for ages and only just had lunch here last week. Super nice staff, interesting teas, and fab dumplings lunch pre fixe menu and do try the curry noodles. I also got the best gift I found all week in SF here: tea pot shaped like a mouse.
