Owner description: The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.

A must-see for the whole family - whether you want to check out the stars and galaxies in the planetarium, visit the aquarium or see the stuffed animals in the natural history museum, it's a fun for the whole family place to visit.

It is pricey to get in, but believe me, if you get there first thing and stay until they throw you out, you get great value for money, The museum is beautifully and informatively organised, and the quality of the film shows and talks - about the universe or volcanoes and earthquakes or whatever - are excellent. The galleries themselves are extremely well laid out with the right amount of eye catching curation and interesting, well packaged information. Just so much to see and take in. The albino alligator is, or course, an attraction, as are the butterflies and birds in the tropical zone, but there are also the quieter explorations in the different rooms where you can have hands on experiences with rocks and other stuff. Wonderful place - if I were a resident I would have a pass and go there all the time - you will never run out of things to learn

My daughter's a traveling nurse and her first assignment was San Francisco. I visited her recently and she had a great itinerary of things to see and do in San Francisco. Although crowded with amazing number of people and school groups, we were still able to see the interesting and well displayed exhibits. Don't miss the Rain Forest with all the beautiful butterflies and birds.

Don’t take me wrong, it is a goos 2 hours program for the family but I was expecting more per the reviews and the combination of aquarium, planetarium and natural history museum. It is a bit of each but none of the 3 is truly impressive. Didn’t make to the top 5 programs of our family in SF.

A great place to take kids and adults of all ages. The aquarium and the rainforest are beautiful and the 3D science show was very informative.
