We went to the terminal for the ferry to Sausalito but were wowed by the variety of shops and eateries. Recommend it over the crowds at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Love this place. Vibrant, busy and good quality providores selling some lovely fresh products. The ice cream is delicious and there is always a queue to stand in that gives time to think about which ice cream combination to have.
The only thing missing is a place that sells truly fine expresso coffee.

I had good Mexican food with Sandia Agua Fresca, excellent Blue Bottle coffee, delicious Emmi Gruyere on Sourdough grilled cheese at Cowgirl Creamery, & excellent variety of oysters at the seafood place. Something for everyone under one roof!

Just like New York’s Chelsea pier, or Boston Market, the Ferry building is a gastronomic wonder. The building is basically located on pier 1, right by the river, and you can use as your base station to get to Fisherman’s Wharf, either by walking, cycling, roller skating, or cable car. Make sure you get there hungry, so you’ll have the opportunity to try all sorts of great food and fruit.

You will find wine, local cheese, local coffee, local ice cream, charcuterie. Roam a the building, check out the locally produced food, and pick up some hand made wooden spoons, plates, glass-ware or local honey.
