Owner description: Manulele Distillers is home to KoHana Rum, Hawai'i's first and only agricole rum distillery. We look forward to showing you our rich history through sight and taste. We hand-harvest throughout the year and press the cane to juice right at the distillery. No molasses or refined sugar in anything we do. We are a true farm-to-bottle rum distillery like no other in Hawaii. We can accommodate small to large groups. Reservations are recommended. Tours and tastings run every Tuesday to Sunday between 10am and 3pm. The store is open for purchases until 5pm. Private tours are available upon request. We are a family friendly tasting room. Visit our gift shop for that perfect Maui souvenir or join our Rum Club! Started as a conservation farm in 2008, Manulele quickly became the largest conservator of native Hawaiian sugarcane in the world with over 30 named varieties each genetically tested for authenticity. We grow only heirloom varieties of sugarcane brought to Hawaii by Polynesian voyagers 1,000 years ago. There are no hybrid canes here.

All staff was very friendly and informative! The rum tastings were very strong! I only wish they had the option to purchase more drinks!

Very interesting story as to how they came across the cane used to make the rum. I loved the tour, the products, and of course they RUM. Set in a remote location but oooh, so worth the drive.

We loved the tour learning about all the varieties of cane sugar and history of the area in Kunia. The Rums were to die for, can't ait to return for another day of tasting. Our guide was warm and engaging with us and extemely knowledgeable, answered all our questions and made our experience perfect...well worth the money.

Not used to drinking rum straight but I did like a couple of the ones we sampled. The tour was very enjoyable and we all loved learning about the history of the area, sugar cane varieties, and rum making process.

If you're looking for a fun day trip to the countryside, this is it. It's very informative and includes a tour of the hydroponic gardens and fish tanks, as well. The history of Hawaiian sugarcane is shared via storytelling. The whiskey tasting is great as we got to taste four of the aged rums, plus, rum cake and rum-soaked cacao nibs in Hawaiian 60% chocolate.
