You take a little tram through their gardens, it’s maybe 1/2 a mile, girl shucks a coconut which was pretty impressive and she is very sweet and tells you a lot about Hawaii plants and fruits.
The fruit cup at the end of the tour is fabulous and their restaurant is good too!

I was there with my husband, and 2 sons (8 &10 yrs. old). The location is beautiful, the variety of fruits and vegetation are plentiful. We took the tram tour around the plantation, it was okay, the audio in the tram was weak and you couldn't hear what the guide was saying about each thing we passed. About 10 minutes in you stop at a location where a young lady demonstrates how to crack a coconut and extract the milk and meat of the coconut. The presentation was hard to see, there were 100 people surrounding a 10' x 10' gazebo, and the guide would talk about the demonstration but you couldn't hear anything he was saying. We get back in the tram for another 30 minutes, but you still can't hear what the guide was saying. I would say it was more of an audio problem, but it didn't help that our guide had a thick Hawaiian accent, which was hard to understand at times. This tour would have been better if the speakers were clearer and the guide needs a microphone when they stop to break open the coconut. The best parts were exploring the grounds area and the main gift shop store was filled with a great selection of food items, cooking and apparel. The prices were very reasonable, we got 2 shirts for the boys and they were only $5/each.

I have been here a few times and noted the changes such as zip lines overhead and gone is the duck island in the centre, where ducks were safe from humans. We passed on the $20 tram ride this time around the plantation, strolling around the grounds, visiting the gift shop and visiting the restaurant for lunch. We were disappointed that we could not order the delicious fruit plate they used to have. Instead, this time experiencing upscale dining to enjoy a pricey burger or pasta dish.

Large gift shop to explore at the Maui Tropical Plantation and items are at not the lowest but at a fair price.
