It was great to be on Maui. And we took a chance booking with Kaanapali Villas- did not do a great research prior to that booking. But we felt like we scored. The apartment was exactly what we needed. The kitchen had all the pots and pans that were needed for the little cooking that we did. The room was clean and furnished in an island style, and the ocean view was spectacular!!! Housekeeping and beach attendants were great, but the Front desk staff was not at the level that one would expect from this property. Fortunately, we did not have to deal with them too much. The swimming pool was fun for kids and adults. The little restaurant was perfect for lunches and cocktails, and you sit basically a few steps away from the beach, watching the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. A walking distance to other hotel properties and a small shopping/restaurant center. Overall - a sweet spot on Earth!

Room Tip: Ask for the Ocean View with a balcony!

Thank you for your review, Sylvia! We are so glad you enjoyed your Maui vacation and appreciated your accommodations, personal kitchen, house keeping and beach service, and our great location. We are sorry to hear that the service you received at our front desk was not on par with the quality of the rest of your stay, and apologize for this inconvenience as it does not reflect the high standard of care and assistance we are accustomed to providing for our guests. It's wonderful to know your stay was fantastic overall, and we can't wait to welcome you again in the future. Aloha and mahalo!

Went for a nice and relaxing vacation, but left with bitter experience. The rooms were nice and clean and housekeeping did a good job. Extremely unhappy and angry with the attitude and rudeness of one particular front desk clerk. While checking out she demanded that we pay $1,175 more although our entire trip had been prepaid and confirmed by our travel agent. We also showed her the documents and she refused to even listen to us or check with her manager or anyone else. Her arrogance and rudeness was appalling. She did not have the courtesy to say thank you or Mahalo even after we were forced to pay the amount we did not owe !!!!! On our return our travel agent contacted them and found out that she was WRONG AND IGNORANT !! We got our refund back. We have traveled to several countries but have never come across somebody so rude. We will never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

Aloha Priya, and thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are very glad to hear that our housekeeping staff gave you a warm welcome and excellent service, but are very disappointed and embarrassed to hear about the service you received from one of our front desk employees. We're very happy to hear that the mistake was corrected, and want you to rest assured that this is not the standard of service we are dedicated and accustomed to providing for our guests. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have another chance to better serve you again in the future. Mahalo.

We wanted to be away from the busy cluster of the big resorts, and have something a little quieter, more serene. The Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas fit the bill for a great base for a family vacation.

Our one bedroom view condo in the Aloha Tower was spacious and looked recently upgraded. Beautiful soft-sand beach right by the resort (note: waves are much gentler in the morning in this area)! Really appreciated the clean, fully-appointed kitchen with granite counter tops. This was the best equipped rental kitchen we've ever had. All the appliances in great condition, plenty of eating utensils, cleaning supplies and cook ware, even place mats, so we were able to easily whip up breakfast and snacks during our stay. The Times Supermarket a mile north, ideal place to pick up groceries and supplies. If we had wanted to barbecue, we could have used the outdoor gas grills. Laundry facilities available.

A word about insects -- I've lived in tropical areas, and bugs are a fact of life in this climate zone. Tip: Do not leave food on the counter, especially sugary items, as it quickly attracts ants and other insects. Bring some large ziploc bags to store unsealed dry goods, or otherwise store food in the refrigerator whenever possible.

On site restaurant is good, albeit slightly pricey. The little general store off of the lobby was very convenient. There is decent free coffee in the morning -- although for espresso, go to the coffee shop at the Royal Lahaina resort next door. The beach just a few steps away. Handy paved/boarded beach walk runs through through the major resorts up and down Kaapnali Beach. You can rent beach equipment on site. The Kaanapali Trolley stops here, very handy if you want to hop to the golf course, a different resort, or Whaler's Village.

In-room wifi worked well. Housekeeping came daily. Plenty of beach towels available at the front desk. The staff is very nice. The concierge service is very helpful. Parking is free. The daily resort fee -- I don't know why hotels don't just include wrap this in the regular fee, seems to be an industry standard and might be an accounting thing since many of the units here are privately owned -- I view this as a reminder to enjoy what the property has to offer.

Bathroom was very large, lots of closet space with built-in safe, appreciated the space to change and put away clothes while the rest of the family was sleeping. Unusually for a property of this type, while excellent soap, shampoo and conditioner was provided, body lotion was not included (but readily available in the downstairs general store off of the lobby).

Very nice pool area -- although it's BYOB (no wait staff to bring drinks, here). Outside the pool area, yet still within the grounds, there are lovely lounge chairs for sunning or sitting in the shade where you can peacefully zonk/read/doze.

Yes, there are more luxurious resorts in the area with grand foyers and fancier restaurants and shops, but this suited our family very well for a comfortable 6-day vacation. This was an excellent value and fully fulfilled our desire for a restful vacation in Maui.

Room Tip: If you need an elevator, say so -- the Aloha Tower has elevators.

My husband I spent the first couple of days celebrating our honeymoon at the Aston in Ka'anapali. Check-in went smoothly and the receptionist kindly congratulated us on our recent marriage. She mentioned that they would be sending champagne and strawberries to our room the next day; however, they were never sent. We are not ones to expect anything, but when someone tells us that we should be getting something, it doesn't look good when the promise isn't fulfilled. In addition, the room we were given was on the 1st floor with a view of the parking lot. For celebrating our honeymoon and traveling from the mainland, this was a disappointment. Lastly, the sink in our room started overflowing with water and food that smelled like vomit. The maintenance person was able to fix the issue pretty quickly and discovered that the neighbors staying in the room next door to us had put salad down their sink which caused our sink to clog and overflow. Our room smelled for a bit after the fact. The mattress on our bed was old and caved in the middle which caused me back pain every morning. We do not plan on returning to this hotel, unfortunately.

The Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas are an alternative to the big hotels. It is quiet. I believe each unit is individually owned and rented. Our first room was small, but modern. The beach is nice. Our second room needed a renovation. Very 70's.
