The complex was a mix of hotel and private condos. The pools were warm, quiet and available. The beach was perfect for swimming a little walk up by the Westin Villas the snorkeling was easy. Their Castaway restaurant / bar was a great place for Happy Hour,$6 my tai,and our dinner was great. Very by the pool/ beach setting. There was public parking by the beach and you could ask for visitor temp pass. There is a free shuttle to Whalers Village or a nice 20 minute walk.

First time ever to Maui or any of the Hawaiian islands! Loved it. We had a studio with a kitchen and it was more room than we needed for the 2 of us! Poolside room, quiet, maid was awesome! Kaanapali beach is beautiful and you can snorkel right off your beach (go down to the right almost exactly in front of the next large resort and snorkel there! We rented our snorkel gear from the stand by our large pool and Castaway Cafe.

We really enjoyed our time at Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas. We had a garden view studio with a full kitchen, tile floors and granite countertops. Beach was beautiful and we made use of the pools in the afternoon with the shade disappeared from the beach. We didn't get a chance to check out the onsite restaurant as we cooked in every night. Onsite grills were a bonus. As each condo is individually owned each one is different and we were lucky to get the tile floors. We saw some condo's with carpet. Parking is included in the resort fee and beach towels are provided. We would definitely stay here again.

The Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas are very interesting. I was in Maui for a week and stayed in two different rooms as we upgraded to a larger room when a third friend joined us. The first room we stayed in (a studio) was kept up well, very nice, and comfortable. The indoor and outdoor furniture and decor were very nice and the bathroom was large. It was also great having a fridge and microwave.

Our second room was a 2 bedroom and unfortunately this one wasn't kept up as well. I guess it's up to each owner how they maintain their unit. For the most part, the room wasn't terrible, just a little bit out dated. But the 'master' bathroom was what did me in. Rust everywhere. The typical clothing line thing in the tub that you should be able to pull in and out as needed was out, pretty gross looking, and wouldn't retract. And just overall the bathtub area was not clean. But it had a second full bathroom which was nice and clean so we just opted to use that so our stay wasn't terrible. And anyway, we weren't planning on staying in the room much. When walking by other rooms, you could see that each unit looked pretty different. Some more modern and kept up and others more dated and worn. So I guess it's just the luck of the draw what you get.

Outside of the rooms itself, we ran into a few strange occurrences:
- One day the AC was turned off from 5 am to 1 pm. While they gave us notice the day before that it needed to be done, it would have been nice if they had planned the shut off to be more during the typical hours people might be out of their room (8 or 9 am to 5 pm).
- Another day the water was shut off for 4 to 5 hours.
- Another day Castaways (the restaurant / bar there) was closing early. So 3 days out of our 7 we were inconvenienced. I should also mention Castaways was good, but not great.
- While most of the staff we worked with were nice, they seemed understaffed. There was a long line at check-in which you would think they would plan for knowing how many people are checking in. And we often had to wait to change our beach towels out.

We did use the place on the property to rent some beach equipment 2 days. The guys was nice and that worked out well although it seems strange that you even have to rent a basic beach chair even though you are paying a resort fee.

It should be noted that while it's kind of far (not walkable) from the typical / popular places to hang out and eat, there is a shuttle that takes you there (Whalers Village) in maybe 5 or 10 minutes. So in that sense, it's not too bad of a location for a more reasonable price.

If the rooms were more consistent, I would have probably given a higher rating and would be more apt to recommend the place to others.

While the resort was beautiful and the room was fantastic, the management/ staff was not great. My son and I got in trouble for playing Marco Polo, which was hilarious.
It's too bad that the staff of a resort can ruin your stay but that is exactly what happened at the the Aston Maui Villas. The front desk staff acted as if it was we were inconveniencing them when we checked in (not all of the staff, the gentleman today was great). The male concierge was so short with me it was verging on rude and the female left right when someone was walking up. It was all too much.
Thankfully we didn't spend too much time at the property. Except the day that we went early to do a boat dive and came back to nap when they were fixing the roof. We should have been warned they were doing work before we went there.
Ah, but today we are in Kauai, a totally different story. It's amazing here.
I would not recommend Aston Villas.

Room tip: Try to get away from the road. We listened to traffic all night long.
