We had a very pleasant stay here for 3 nights in early October. If you're looking for luxury or even slightly down from luxury, this is not the place for you. But it's very clean, comfortable, well situated and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. In our entire visit around Hawaii (3 islands and several hotels/resorts), this resort stood out as having the most customer friendly attitude and approach.
It is also the best value for money we could find in Kauai.
We arrived from an early flight and they allowed us to check in early (at no extra cost) and kindly moved our room so we could enjoy a patio. When the toilet backed up, they immediately moved us to another room and had that toilet fixed when it too backed up (this was not due to anything we did - the resort is a little dated and the plumbing can be an issue). After that - all was good.
We didn't use the pool, but we saw several families and couples using it.
Pros:
Attentive, helpful, friendly staff
Free parking with lots of spaces available
Comfortable beds
Beautiful views of the mountains
Clean
Central to all places on the island
Lots of outdoor space - this might be good for families with young children

Things to consider:
Roosters - I know the hotel has no control over this. At the same time, be aware that the roosters start crowing early and if you're a light sleeper and they are near your room, you will be woken up. This was not an issue for us but it could be for some people.
Plumbing - Although this was fixed right away, it was a problem.
Dated - the rooms are a little dated but they are clean. The A/C is on the loud side - again a consideration for light sleepers.
Noise - we could hear the people above us dragging chairs etc, sometimes quite late at night
If it weren't for the quality of staff, I'm not sure I'd have given it 4 stars - maybe 3 to 3.5. And the cleanliness of the place makes up for the rooms needing some updating. Overall, we had a good stay and would go back.More
