I saw this place mentioned in a guide book and it is famous for its huge portions. The wife loves breakfast, so off we went.
The restaurant is sort of an old house, nothing fancy. We arrived at 7am, opening time, which for our body time was noon so we were hungry.
The waitress was not too friendly at first, maybe miffed that we arrived so early, but she warmed up a bit later.
The wife got the tropical stack of 3 pancakes. She said they were excellent, so moist and flavorful that syrup was not needed. She also got fresh eggs on the side and they were cooked perfectly. Too much food! She ended up taking half the portion home.
I ordered the MCA omelete--cheese, mushrooms, and avocado. The omelet was huge--stuffed with mushrooms. The avocado had a lot of bad spots that were not edible so that was a turnoff. Not sure why anyone thought it was a good idea to serve it. The hash browns were ok. English muffin was a bit burnt but ok.
We were overcharged a little--the prices were different from the menu, but I did not say anything. I guess because we are tourists. Maybe an honest mistake. I am not sure.
Our consensus was that the food was good but not great. I am glad we tried this icon on Kauai .
