We ate here as part of our Kailani Tour Co. tour to the volcano and it is a great old lodge owned by a couple who were part of Tom Selleck's crew with Magnum PI. The ahi tuna was superb, but the quinoa was a non-event. Atmosphere was like a throw-back to old Hawaii. Nice place for a relaxed evening.

Aloha
Yes Albert was a make up artist on Magnum for 8 years. I, however, was a public school teacher and counselor on O'ahu. We bought the restaurant on our honeymoon....30 years ago! I'll mention to Al that the quinoa could use some jazzing up. Mahalo Lorna

Kilauea lodge is a cute, quaint lodging near volcanos on the Big Island. The rooms have gas fireplaces and its great to sit and have coffee in your room in front of the fireplace. The restaurant also has a nice big fireplace with a couch in front of it. The food is good compared to what Ive been able to find in the area, and breakfast is included with the room, and is great! Good location for exploring Volcanos National Park.

Mahalo for your Review. The big fireplace in the main dining room was named The Fireplace of Friendship" in 1938 by the YMCA. if you know anything about architecture of the 1930-1960 era, this building was inspired by the rough sketches made by Charles Dickey, a famous (in Hawai'i) architect who was inspired by South Seas buildings. aloha Lorna

After a day of hiking, a mere sandwich would not do. We stumbled across this rare find near the Volcano Park. A Euro-style Lodge, that also serves meals. Beautiful, cozy dining room, with massive fireplace. Wide selection of starters, soups, salads, and main courses. Home made desserts to boot. Very moderate prices, just a bit more than a common diner. Very warm service staff.

Early reservation advised if you're noise sensitive. Good choices for gluten sensitivity. Had duck breast/she and lemon-caper antelope/he, both excellent. Beautiful atmosphere and presentation and service.
