I stayed at Flat Creek for a 5-day hiking trip in early June. The location of this property is excellent: one mile north of Jackson, and 10 minutes south of the Moose entrance to Grand Teton NP. That makes it affordably perfect for easy access to major trails and scenic viewpoints. You are right on Highway 89 between Jackson and Yellowstone NP, and directly across the road is the huge National Elk Refuge (no elk at this time of year). If you have time, don’t miss visiting the world-class National Museum of Wildlife Art just a quarter mile north of Flat Creek Inn.

Rooms come with an under-counter refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine, which are enough to prepare basic meals. There is no restaurant next to the property, which would have been nice for relaxing after long days of hiking and sightseeing. A gas station is on the property, plus a small mini-mart which has limited grocery supplies. Grocery prices and selection are much better at in-town grocery stores such as Albertsons. (FYI: beer, wine and hard liquor are not sold in Wyoming grocery stores. You’ll find them in separate stores nearby.)
I requested a room on the 2nd floor, which meant no footsteps overhead. The bonus was a raised ceiling, making the room seem larger. Everything was clean and all the appliances worked. My room came with a mini-sink area, making it easy to prepare sandwiches and microwave meals. Some rooms have full kitchens. My bathroom sink area was new and clean, with enough space for toiletries and plenty of soft towels. The shower and toilet room were standard. A table and two chairs near the front window were good for organizing gear.
The bed mattress was comfortable, but like most motels, the pillows are foam rubber and too thick and firm. Soundproofing between rooms seemed good.

The main negative for this property came from people making noise outside their rooms. The second floor wooden exterior walkway seemed to be a congregating point for people to talk. Four women with drinks actually sat down on the walkway next to my room and loudly talked for 40 minutes. One woman several doors away stood in front of my room yakking on her cell phone, rather than talking from inside her own room. On the ground floor, construction workers used the bed of their truck, backed up to their room door, to barbecue their dinners. All of this left a negative impression of the property.
There are three separate 2-story buildings of rooms. My room was in the building farthest north, which meant less noise from the gas station and mini-mart.
Surprisingly, traffic noise from the busy highway was minimal. If it hadn’t been for the noise from people outside my room, I would have given Flat Creek Inn five stars for its motel category, based on cleanliness, convenience and price. However, because of the noise from people on the walkway in front of guest rooms, I give it just 3 stars. It would be helpful for the property to place “be courteous” signs along the walkways, to remind guests that others are trying to sleep.
Bottom line, would I stay here again? Because of the location, probably, but would hope that neighboring guests are quieter.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have higher ceilings and better view of Elk Refuge

This is a helpful review--lots of great information.

I'm so sorry about your noisy neighbors. It's sounds like they were all having a good time.

I like the sign idea. I will forward it to the managers.

Have a safe trip and thanks for the review.

Spent just one night here as part of a tour around. We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely room with a great view over the Elk Refuge. Staff were courteous and couldn't have been more helpful

Clean room, fluffy towels, excellent location for avoiding town. Staff brought up more pillows as soon as we requested them. Our room was ready early, which was nice. Motel is right on the road to Grand Teton National Park.

Room Tip: No elevators so request 1st floor is you don't want to carry up your gear.

I was only there for one night, but the bed was very comfortable, it was really close to national parks, and had a coffee pot in the room, with not only coffee but also Swiss miss. The bed was quite large as well.
