House on the Rock is a "must see" attraction for everyone, all ages. My husband and I first visited this place 20 years ago. I have to admit, it was over whelming mostly because we did not allow enough time. About a month ago we brought our 18 year old son with us because everyone should come to House on the Rock at least once in your life. There are several large buildings, the House itself and outdoor areas to explore, my son loved it.
The gate house and house are very unique, built on a rock and utilizing the rock formations in a way that is amazing to think about. The attraction is also a collection of just about anything and everything you could possibly believe. Some highlights are a carousel, a giant whale and musical automatons. There is a place to eat and get off your feet and have an ice cream cone. You will need to take a little break due to a good amount of walking. Enjoy the Japanese garden and souvenir stores. Wear comfortable shoes and a camera to take a lot of photos.

You are not told there is so much walking. It is insane and amazing to view. Plan a long tour. We did 3 hours. Could have done 4-5. Crazy place. Well worth it.

I've lived in Wisconsin most of my life and have never visited here. Why? This place is incredible. Set in a picturesque location, one gets to see the eclecticism of Alex Jordan. He collected everything known to man, it seems, and it is all set up to view in this amazing home. There are 3 sections to the house, and I would recommend seeing them all. Definitely plan to spend most of the day here; there is is a lot to take in. Don't miss the gardens either!

Before we headed to visit The House on the Rock, we did not know what to expect. We were expecting a great view and a gift shop. But we got lot more this is wonderful collection of most usual artifacts on a most beautiful location with stunning view. The total self guided tour can take 3-4 hours so plan accordingly. You could visit just one room and spend couple hours, look at amazing collection of oriental art, learn about the creator Alex Jordon and walk through The Infinity Room extending an unsupported
length of 218 feet and soaring 156 feet above the valley floor. Other rooms have music machines, dolls, doll houses, and much more.
Plan ahead go early as possible and make a full day event.

This place is really Bizarre.
Everything begins by being odd and goes to become wierd.

It is HUGE the collections are immense and most don’t even make any sense. It takes several hours of walking, there is no way to leave once you are inside a zone. Feels more like a giant warehouse of world’s discards.

The dollhouse are amazingly good though.
