Melt-in-your-mouth half rack of rib dinner. Place gets really busy. We tried to eat there a second night while we were in town but it was booked. I would suggest making reservations and if the weather is nice, eating outside.

We arrived for dinner on a Sunday night after many other Milwaukee area restaurants were closed, so were pleasantly surprised to find the Swingin' Door Exchange open. The only available seating at this time was a high top in the bar, which was OK. Not necessarily ideal with 2 kids, but it was our choice to sit there and not wait for a table in the dining room. The staff were friendly. Food was good, we all had burgers or sandwiches. The bar can get crowded/loud as it is not a large area, but it wasn't too overwhelming. Only 1 dessert to offer, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall, we had a pleasant family experience.

Swingin’ Door Exchange is a gem in Milwaukee. The service is excellent and the food comes out quickly. I would recommend any of their soups along with a build your own sandwich.

We stopped here on "Open Doors Weekend " so it was packed. The entire staff was upbeat & friendly and the prices were very reasonable for good food.
They had indoor & outdoor seating. I ordered the Angus cheeseburger /fries,others ordered the Seared Blacken Ahi ( an appetizer but enough for a lunch) & Grilled Russians (r.beef, corned beef, slaw, cheese on rye).
They also have a full bar.

Took some family to Milwaukee to do some sampling of the local brew and Swingin Door was highly recommended. Went here for lunch and was crowded due to an "Open Doors Milwaukee" festival. We had about a 30 minute wait which was not too bad as we were able to order a beer and wait outside. We all ordered the Big KC Burger - were not disappointed. One sure sign the food is good is when the table begins chowing down there is complete silence for the first minute or two. I call this "shock and awe" . . . . In my honest opinion this burger is the best burger I have ever had. The others in our party mutually agreed. I think the reason is that they put shaved roast beef on the burger along with grilled onions . . . . and they know how to cook the burgers here. Burgers are just over the top here. Beer menu here is equally good - we sampled the Spaten Oktoberfest and the La Fin Du Monde. Restaurant was crowded with lots of people waiting to get a table. We were never rushed and the server was helpful with types of beer.

Simply the best burger I have ever had and an excellent assortment of beer on tap and in the bottle. Our server told us to visit the floor above the restaurant as it was "Open Doors Milwaukee" that weekend. The building the restaurant is located is the Mackie Building - built in the 1870's and once was The Grain Exchange. If it is open - make sure you go to the third floor and take a look at the old Grain Exchange. 10,000 SF of stepping back in time. This restaurant is not to be missed - amazing.
