“Clean and basic”
Reviewed 24 March 2017 for a stay in June 2016

Revamped 40's style cottages that are "no frills "to be sure. No TV reception except one channel-WI-FI spoty at best. Has DVD player. The lake is very nice but can be busy with boats and jet ski's. Swimming available at resort dock, not your cottage. Staff friendly and attentive. Nice trees shading property. As with all resort properties, bring your own frying pan!

“Beautiful location, friendly and attentive owners made this a great stay”
Reviewed 8 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I must start off by saying that I am hotel person. Not just any hotel, but a nice hotel. I don't camp and do not typically stay in cabins. That being said, we really enjoyed our stay at Rainbow's end. Scott and his mother were wonderful hosts. The week started with a lovely loaf of homemade bread waiting for us in our cabin. We stayed in the Birch cabin that is literally footsteps to the water. The cabin was clean and freshly painted. It was obvious that they are putting a lot of $$ and sweat into the old resort. Our grandsons enjoyed swimming in the lake and using the raft. The grill and picnic table outside our cabin were very handy and were used several times during the week. The appliances in the cabin were full size and in good order. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues and Scott was quick to resolve both. The bathrooms are REALLY tiny but had what you needed. I was completely amazed by the fact that I never once had to use bug spray during our stay. I could not believe we were in Wisconsin and saw ZERO mosquitoes or ticks! Huge bonus! We met several other families at the resort and sitting around the campfire at nice was great fun. We did have to bring our own firewood one of the nights, but there are several locations in Chetek that sell it for a reasonable price. You should know that the TV is over the air and channels are very limited. They do offer a large selection of DVD's at no charge and the TV's are nice flat screens. The WI-Fi is spotty but we have AT&T service and were able to connect without too much issue. Guests with other carriers had more difficulty. Each cabin gets a row boat to use, free of charge. Please keep in mind that this is a 75 year old resort and is a constant work in progress and remains "rustic", but if you are aware of that before you come you will be happy with your stay.

“Great Vacation Spot!”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Spent a week here with my sons. The cabins are rustic, but have everything they need. The other guests seemed to enjoy their time here as well! We went boating, fishing (but caught a fraction of what the seasoned fisherman here caught) and just enjoyed the cooler weather overall. The resort is on a small island so it was nice to be able to walk on the road around the island and not worry about traffic or getting lost. The town is midwest simple with a couple of great restaurants to watch a game in. Oh, and the cabins only get about 3 channels! great reason for my kids to not touch a remote control for a week! the wifi is a bit spotty though, and at times i had to sit on the porch of the main house to get a connection.
The owner is very nice and made sure we had all we needed. He recently purchased the property and is making all kinds of improvements to it but fortunately keeping the feel of a 75 year old camp. We will be back!

Thanks for the review and thanks for staying with us! Yes, we've only owned this property since February 20, 2015 and we started the remodeling process on April 8. Since then we have made vast improvements to this historic property with the remodeling of all of the cabin interiors completed and now, as you saw while you stayed with us, we are working on the exteriors. It's an ongoing project and our family is committed to not only restoring the beauty of this old camp but to making your vacation, every time you visit us, terrific!

It's great that you were able to catch fish and relax with us too! You and your family were here on a sold out week and you were able to see how many fish this beautiful lake can provide!

Thanks again for staying with us and our family is looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Thanks for your vote of confidence!

In addition to the sunsets and the natural beauty the resort is undergoing a transformation as we celebrate our first 75 years! New interiors, new exteriors, new amenities and so much more are all underway during 2015 to prepare for the next 75 years of service for our guests!

You can follow and see many of these changes on our Facebook page - Rainbows End Resort. Thanks again for your review!
