This review is not about the hotel, it is about the airport parking service.

Towne Park operates the valet and extended time parking lot at the Marriott. It is a discounted rate, not the hotels normal overnight guest rate. We thought we would save a few dollars and parked there while on vacation. The lot is fenced and there are some lights but other than that, it does not appear they have any security.

Saving a few dollars on parking cost us $3500 to replace the catalytic converter that was stolen while parked there. Lesson for the day, pay a little more for better security. Do not park there.

Dear blueleader50,

We, of course, were disturbed to learn of the theft of your catalytic converter. This, however, is a problem not unique to this location. Please Google a recent article (https://www.npr.org/2021/05/08/994656425/theres-big-money-in-stolen-catalytic-converters) indicating this is a widespread problem across the country. The parking area you refer to does have roving security, but as pointed out by police and the referenced article, the theft can occur within a minute or two. If one has insurance this would be covered, but it appears by your comment this may have not been the case in your situation. We apologize for the inconvenience and although the parking lot is utilized for thousands of cars each year without incident we have taken further steps to minimize the chance of this problem reoccurring.

Spending the night for an early morning connection departure, this hotel was an obvious choice. The room was clean and comfortable, the common areas inviting and the restaurant food was really good. They seemed to be a little short staffed; however, during Covid, I think projecting staff needs must be difficult. The shuttle worked beautifully for us in both directions; it was especially nice for an early morning flight.

Caught an early flight so wanted to be close to airport. Great Marriott although some things were closed due to COVID. Enjoyed the bar with an app. Staff friendly. Room beautiful. Able to catch a shuttle to airport early.

They will tell you over and over that the shuttle goes around every 15 minutes but from experience and observation this simply is not true. I waited at the airport for almost an hour in the wind and cold. Bring a jacket. I observed flight crews stressed out about being late for work on the way back.

Maybe it's Covid, but the service at this hotel seems bare bones. There are nice people among the cranky but they are few and far between.

It's a nice physical property, it's just disappointing that the basics just aren't functioning.

FYI, I'm Marriott Gold and rarely write scathing reviews.

Dear Oregon mMs

The shuttle runs ever 15 minutes from the hotel. Traffic is the only issue that would prevent it from reaching the airport on time. I am sorry you had to wait but the facts are the facts. The shuttle leaves the hotel every 15 minutes and our flight crews depend on that fact. The hotel has remained open throughout the pandemic serving our guests. Thank you for recognizing the willingness of our front line works to be there for you when you travel.

Hotel is Meh. Drivers are either rude and mean or creepy and gross. Front desk always looks annoyed by anyone asking a question.

There are literally a dozen other hotels nearby and most a way better for the same price. It’s really not that nice inside, most of their effort with to the lobby area.
