Inside the cabin is beautiful and clean, just like the pictures. Outside the home is actually DARK brown, but you should recognize the twinkly lights. There is wildlife in abundance especially in the early morning hours. Our family of five and our best friends with their family of three had ample room to relax and visit. It is about a 25 minutes drive, on a road with (we counted) over 90 twists and turns, to Leavenworth. For us that was nothing as the drive is especially beautiful and we packed lots of food on our way in. The kitchen is fully appointed when it comes to pots, pans, and dishes. There are plenty of pillows and blankets, books, and family movies.
What you can't tell from the pictures is that there is no yard and all the lots are packed fairly tightly together. But, there were a TON of pinecones, bluejays, ground squirrels, turkey families, quail families, and I'm sure plenty of other critters we missed.
Our trip did begin rather rough when our 4 year old somehow managed to cut her leg on the rocks out front (mommies beware). But... there was a nice emergency kit, well marked, in the kitchen. AND the emergency staff in Leavenworth are top-notch! Probably the NICEST medical staff I hope you'll never have to meet ;) 3 little stitches and voila, back on track to family fun!
We had the best time riding horses at the state park (about 10 minutes up the road). Plus the little beach was perfect for our horse shy little man (but only park outside of the horse riding parking lot if you have your Discover Pass, you don't want a ticket).
Soaking in the hot-tub was definitely a treat, morning noon or night, it was so nice to have right out the back door! Staying in the master sweet we were happy to make use of the pack and play for our youngest, and spread out luxuriously on the huge king sized bed. (Which now of course we need one at home)
As with every trip, there are pluses and minuses, and we had our fair share of ups and downs. But the fact of the matter is, we had a wonderful stay at just plain getaway, and we hope to be back again in the future :)
